Repost

The MBK-Obama Leadership Academy is an immersive summer program for a group of incoming freshmen at three high schools surrounding the Obama Presidential Center (Chicago Vocational Career Academy (CVCA), Dyett High School, and Hyde Park Academy). The MBK-Obama LeadershipAcademy is in partnership with Chicago Public Schools and is a build upon the school system's pre-existing High School Connection.

Through the MBK-Obama Leadership Academy, students not only complete a CPS-implemented curriculum, they also take part in immersive experiences, such as, but not limited to site visits to local businesses, college tours, workshops, career and cultural exploration, and more. The program culminates with a pinning ceremony for all participants who successfully complete Leadership Academy.

This program is anchored in MBK's Milestone 3: Graduate from High School. The MBK-Obama Leadership Academy gives its participants a jumpstart on that milestone as successful completion of the program results in each student earning a full Elective Credit, half of their Service Learning Credit required to graduate high school, and a $480 stipend.

Any rising 9th graders attending CVCA, Dyett, and High Park Academy can participate in programming by enrolling in High School connection. Young men will automatically be members of our cohort upon arrival at High School connection, June 22nd
