Come celebrate 30 years of the Aquinas Literacy Center with food, drink, and student performances!

Aquinas does incredible work teaching and serving the community. Join us in honoring its three decades of history, celebrating the students and volunteer tutors who have shaped it, and looking ahead to its next chapter.

Aquinas provides individualized tutoring and small-group classes that help learners build English skills, pursue personal and professional goals, and more fully participate in their communities. Big news for 35th Street! 🎉
Congratulations to the four McKinley Park building owners selected for Round One of the City of Chicago’s Commercial Corridor Storefront Activation Program!

🏠 Egor Machaca — 2025 W 35th St
🏠 The Saleh Family — 1758 W 35th St
🏠 The Sircher Family — 2030 W 35th St
🏠 Miller Properties — 1734 W 35th St

Through this program, owners will receive city grants to improve vacant storefronts, creating space for more small businesses on 35th Street! MPDC is excited to work alongside these grant recipients as their projects move forward and to see these investments take shape along the corridor.

Work has started on the new shade structure at Canal Origins Park!
Soon a concrete pad will be poured to support the structure. The structure itself is slated to be constructed after the snow melts next spring.

The Chicago Workers Cottage Initiative is hosting a tour of McKinley Park's Workers Cottages. This group is committed to preserving one of Chicago's unique housing types while telling the stories of these homes and the people who have lived in them throughout their history.

Support our neighbors in Bridgeport and Chinatown in the fight against the rail yard relocation. The proposed facility covers most of a mile along Canal St and would bring 24/7 heavy diesel operations to a residential area.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the last Canal Origins Cleanup of the season. Volunteers picked up 67 lbs of trash and planted over 100 bulbs!
