The Learning Center The Learning Center is a community based adult education center which offers FREE education to men a Adults can learn and have a right to quality education.

The Learning Center, serving the North Lawndale and Little Village communities of Chicago, supports adults in their pursuit of an educational path to more confident and effective living. Education is liberating. Education is empowering. Inclusive education creates a path to justice and peace.

Students of The Learning Center acquire knowledge and skills in reading, writing, math, and related subjects; and by preparing for the GED/HiSET test. Students grow in self confidence and increase their awareness of the cultural, educational, and employment resources of the city of Chicago. Since 1983 quality education has been the goal of the center. To that end, we offer FREE classes and participate in a partnership with Malcolm X College, which has provided us with adult educators for over 35 years.

Today marks the end of National Volunteer Week at The Learning Center, and we want to take a moment to express our deep gratitude to all of our incredible tutors and celebrate the work that they all do! 💙

This week a few of our tutors were kind enough to share their experiences and motivations for volunteering as a tutor at The Learning Center. Their stories highlight how volunteering can have positive and everlasting impact on the community we serve. We are also incredibly thankful for the rest of our amazing team of tutors who have been supporting our adult learners for one year, two years, 10 years, and even almost 20 years. Your dedication, generosity and kind hearts make our mission possible, and we couldn't do it without you! ✨️
