This can be the best time of the year to hit the streams and lakes. The weather is cool and streams are full of trout. Watch out for the spawning browns and brook trout reds. Take a veteran fishing with you.

Today Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing honors some of our women veterans at Crystal Lakes. These ladies had the run of the place with some great volunteers who were their guides. As you can see by the pictures a great time was had by all. Thank you to all who were involved in today’s event.

With the start of fall the trees are changing, the air is cooler and crisp, the water cools off from the summer heat, and the browns are spawning. What a great time of year to be a veteran fly fisherman or fisherwoman. We are just a few days away from honoring our women veterans at a day of fishing at Crystal Lakes. Can’t wait to see those smiles and fish caught

Today, as our nation marks the 25th anniversary of September 11th, all of us at Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing (PRVFF) pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the enduring resilience of the American spirit. We honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger and the generations of service members who stepped up to defend our freedom in the years that followed.
For our community of veterans, military personnel, and supporters, this milestone carries profound weight. It reminds us exactly why we gather together- To provide rest, recreation, and rehabilitation for active duty, veterans, disabled veterans, and retired military personnel through fly fishing related activities.
From our very beginning, the words “The Water Holds No Scars” have defined our mission to those we serve. These words represent the physical and mental healing, societal integration, and family reunification that are attainable through the sport of fly fishing. On difficult days of remembrance like today, we find strength in this mission and in the quiet, healing power of the river.

There is something awesome about hitting the Colorado Fly Fishing Guides shop with 12 veterans and 6 guides eager to get on the water. Everyone had a great day fishing. Then a great steak meal to top it off.
