Last night, Chester Fire responded to an ATV rollover and required the use of a life star helicopter. Thanks to Berkshire control, Becket ambulance, Northampton control, Hilltown Community Ambulance Association and Massachusetts state police for assistance.

Our community needs your help.

The Chester Volunteer Fire Department was recently burglarized, resulting in the loss of essential lifesaving equipment. Among the stolen items was the Jaws of Life—a critical rescue tool used to free people trapped inside vehicles after serious accidents. This equipment isn’t just expensive; it’s vital to the firefighters’ ability to save lives when every second counts.

As a volunteer fire department, every piece of equipment has been earned through countless hours of fundraising, grant writing, and the unwavering dedication of our firefighters and community supporters. These tools represent years of hard work and a shared commitment to protecting the people of Chester.

While insurance may help cover some of the loss, it likely won’t replace everything or provide for the additional equipment and future needs our department must continue to meet. That’s why we’re asking our community to come together once again.

Now is the time to rally around the men and women who volunteer their time to protect us. Every donation, no matter the size, will help replace essential equipment, strengthen our emergency response capabilities, and ensure our firefighters have the tools they need when someone calls for help.

Do you want to be part of your community but not be part of the fire department? Well, you can always join the Chester Fire Department Association! This organization is responsible for fundraising events and other community events in the town. There is a meeting tonight at the Chester Fire station on route 20 at 6 PM.

Thank you to Hilltown Community Ambulance Association for the support!

Seconds matter,

Today Hilltown Ambulance was dispatched to the town of Chester for an individual with a serious leg injury. Prior to the arrival of Hilltown paramedics both Chester-Blandford Police Department and Chester Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene within minutes of the 911 call being placed. Without hesitation a tourniquet was placed by first responders on scene. This act without a doubt saved the life of the patient who is experiencing an arterial bleed. Thankfully, because of the intervention provided by first responders on scene, there was a positive outcome.

Yesterday before 7:00pm, our Station 2 was broken into and several items were stolen out of Engine 2. The list of items are:

Amkus cordless cutters
Amkus cordless spreaders
Extended reach tips for the spreaders
One Pelican flashlight
One Bullard thermal imaging camera
One Pi-lite
Dewalt cordless drill, impact driver, grinder
