Team MAC, the youth development entity of Making A Change Group, was first created in 2004 as a grassroots mentoring program. Our programs have expanded to include family programs, community events and as of 2020 (Largely due to COVID-19) A community based broadcast.

Making A Change Group is seeking energetic, positive, and dependable Camp Counselors to join our Team MAC Summer Camp staff!

📅 Camp Dates: July 6 – August 14, 2026
🕣 Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
👧🏾👦🏽 Ages Served: 8–13 years old
📍 Location: Chester, PA

Our campers enjoy:

To be a Camp Counselor, you must:

Making a Change Group is looking to grow our team of Peace Ambassadors this summer!

This is a paid 6-week internship opportunity for young adults ages 18–24 who are passionate about making a difference in their community.

✅ $15/hour
✅ 10 hours per week
✅ Leadership development
✅ Community engagement experience
✅ Work alongside local organizations and neighborhood initiatives

As a Peace Ambassador, you’ll help support Safe Summer initiatives, participate in community outreach efforts, and gain valuable experience as we train the next generation of community advocates, health workers, credible messengers, and leaders.

As we continue to share our appreciation, we want to highlight our recent Staff & Volunteer Appreciation Dinner held at Gather Event Space and catered by Everybody Eats.

With staff, volunteers, board members, and a few spouses in attendance, it was an opportunity to simply say thank you to the people who make this work possible every day.

We are proud to serve alongside this team and privileged to work together in support of Chester’s youth and families. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, these are the individuals helping to make our community a better place through mentorship, support, advocacy, and service.

To our staff, volunteers, board members, and the families who support them behind the scenes, thank you for your commitment, your sacrifices, and your belief in the mission.

As this program year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize Antoine “Zeez” Landing for his dedication and service to Making A Change Group.

Since joining our team in 2023, Zeez has served as a mentor, role model, and advocate for young people in our schools and community. Along the way, he completed Cognitive Behavioral Theory training, earned his PA AHEC Community Health Worker Certification, and helped impact countless youth and families.

More than anything, Zeez has been a brother to our team and someone we could always count on when the work needed to get done.

Thank you for your commitment, your growth, and your contributions over the years.

When we said we were busy this week, we meant it!

This week, we celebrated another group of NexChap graduates as we closed out the final cohort of our 2025-26 program year.

Over the course of the program, young adults ages 18-24 worked on obtaining IDs, Social Security cards, birth certificates, learner’s permits, job readiness skills, financial literacy, workplace soft skills, introductions to careers in the medical field, and much more. But beyond the workshops and certifications, they put in the work, stayed committed, and invested in themselves.

Thank you to the partners who showed up to support, encourage, and inspire our young people, including Chester Education Foundation, Kristin Rushing, former Mayor John Linder, Lauren Sandz with Crozer Library, Propel Credit Union, and PA CareerLink. We appreciate your investment in the future of our community.

Several participants from this cohort will be selected to serve as paid Peace Ambassadors this summer, continuing their growth while helping make a difference throughout our neighborhoods.

Stay tuned for more information on our next NexChap Job Readiness cohort this fall. The work doesn’t stop here.

Making A Change Group is proud to stand alongside our community partners at the Chester Community Coalition and others in the continued fight to raise awareness and prevent senseless gun violence in our communities.

Not long ago, we partnered with CCC’s Ed Mack to provide gun safety training for our ROAR participants. That work continues tomorrow as we come together to honor those we’ve lost, support those still hurting, and remind our community that violence does not define us.

Join us for Chester Community Coalition’s 5th Annual Wear Orange Peace Walk & Block Party. Come represent your family, your neighborhood, your loved ones, and every life impacted by gun violence.

📍 Starting at 9th & Kerlin Streets and walking to MLK Memorial Park
🕙 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
🍔 Food • 🎶 Music • 🎁 Giveaways • 🎯 Games

For those who prefer not to walk, shuttle transportation will be available in an air-conditioned vehicle.

After the walk and block party we’ll also be supporting the Ball Against Violence event at the newly renovated 7th & Penn Street courts.

Chester is worth fighting for. Our young people are worth fighting for. Our peace is worth fighting for.

We were outside this week!

We wrapped up another successful school year of our Connected Families and Team MAC programs with a community block party celebration, recognizing our amazing youth and families ages 8–17. The day was filled with awards, gifts, moon bounces, water ice, barbecue, games, music, laughter, and plenty of great memories.

Special thanks to our community partners and vendors who helped make the day possible: Big Vars Water Ice, Butter Wesley for face painting, Shacona Howe for the delicious food, DJ Cory Da 1 for providing the soundtrack for the day, and Greener Partners for bringing their smoothie-making bike and healthy living activities to our families and T-Bear Photography.

It was a great year of growth, learning, and connection. Thank you to all of the families, youth, staff, volunteers, and supporters who continue to make this work possible.

We’re looking forward to an exciting summer and an even bigger year ahead!

Big shout out to the ROAR (Real Ones Achieving & Rising) Community-Based Mentoring Team on another successful G’s Mentor G’s session!

Special thanks to Charles Thompson, Greg “G-Code” Graves, and Quan Green for their dedication to mentoring and developing the next generation of young men. And major thanks to
Antoine “Zeez” Landing, a stellar mentor with the ROAR team.

As part of our GVINE (Gun Violence Intervention Network and Empowerment) initiative, G’s Mentor G’s is one of three cohorts annually of 9- week mentoring sessions focused on conflict resolution, financial literacy, career readiness, self-esteem, public speaking, leadership development, and positive exposure opportunities.

It’s been a busy week at Making a Change Group as we celebrating our program participants all week.

The work continues, and so does the impact.
