Tomorrow, come out and support one of our own, Charles Thompson
as he receives a well-deserved Legacy Award at the 8th Annual The Missing Plug Awards!

For decades, Coach Charles has impacted Chester’s young people through football, coaching, mentoring, and youth leadership. Today, that work continues through his leadership with our ROAR, Real Ones Achieving & Rising, Program, exposing young people to new opportunities, careers, field trips, mentorship, and experiences.

The Missing Plug Awards celebrates some of Delaware County’s outstanding minority entrepreneurs, businesses, creatives, and community leaders. This year’s “106 N Plug” celebration will recognize another group of people doing meaningful work throughout our communities.

Come support Coach Charles and all of this year’s honorees and nominees tomorrow night at Chester City Hall!

Congratulations, Coach Charles. Your decades of service and impact are worthy of this recognition!

What a year for the Philadelphia 76ers!

With everything happening around this team, we thought we might get lost in the sauce a little bit, LOL, but you remembered us!

Big thank you to the Sixers Youth Foundation and 76ers organization for gifting Making a Change Group 100 tickets for our youth to enjoy this weekend’s scrimmage and block party. We’re grateful to continue this partnership and excited to celebrate with you!

And of course, we have to shout out Chester’s own Jameer Nelson as he continues to rise with the Sixers. Always good to keep that Chester connection strong!

Today was a good day for Chester.

Governor Josh Shapiro joined Mayor Stefan Roots and other leaders to announce nearly $100 million in public and private investment in the City of Chester, investing in our infrastructure, waterfront, neighborhoods, economic development and community based work.

I’m proud that Making A Change Group was recognized as part of this investment for the violence prevention and credible messenger work we’ve been doing right here in Chester.

This is bigger than MACG or any one organization. It’s about seeing real resources, real partnerships and real opportunities being invested into the city of Chester for our people.

We still have plenty of work to do, but there are some good things happening, the momentum is real, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

Making A Change Group is looking for an organized, dependable, and mission-driven Administrative Coordinator to help keep our organization running smoothly.

This is much more than an administrative position. You’ll serve as the operational backbone of our team by supporting executive leadership, coordinating office operations, managing schedules and meetings, assisting with communications and marketing, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping strengthen the systems that keep our programs operating efficiently.

Position Highlights:

Dear Parents, Friends, Family, and Supporters,

Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the weather, and because of the potential for thunderstorms later in the day, the entire Fusion Fridays event has been moved up.

Fusion Fridays will now kick off at 2:00 PM.

Making a Change Group will still be there for our Youth & Parent Meet and Greet from 4:00–6:00 PM. We decided to shorten our portion of the event so everyone can still come out, connect, and hopefully beat the weather.

A big shout out to CMP Radio Foundation and all of their sponsors for inviting us to collaborate on Fusion Fridays. We appreciate the partnership and everything they’re doing to bring positive community events to Chester.

We’re also going to run it back for Part 2 on Friday, August 7th!

Today, we were proud to partner with Mayor Stefan Roots and the City of Chester to launch the new Mayor’s Safe Summer Series, bringing resources, activities, and community engagement directly into neighborhoods across our city.

We were also excited to introduce our Peace Ambassadors, eight young adults, ages 18–24, who are serving as paid summer interns with Making a Change Group. Throughout the next eight weeks, they’ll gain hands-on experience in community engagement, leadership, outreach, and service while working alongside local partners to help make a positive impact across Chester.

In addition to supporting the Mayor’s Safe Summer Series, our Peace Ambassadors have also began assisting at the Chester Housing Authority’s
free community dinners by helping serve families, lead activities, and connect with residents.

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to a summer of building relationships, supporting our neighborhoods, and creating opportunities for young adults to lead through service.

☀️ Summer is officially underway at Making a Change Group!

Our campus is full of energy, our youth are engaged, and our team is back in the community doing what we love most, creating safe spaces, building relationships, and investing in the next generation.

From Team MAC Summer Camp, to ROAR’s career explorers camp and community outings, and our Peace Ambassadors will be connecting with young leaders, it’s been an exciting start to what promises to be an impactful summer.

This is just the beginning. Throughout the summer, we’ll be sharing stories, celebrating our youth, and highlighting the work happening every day across our programs.

Don’t forget to join us this Friday, July 10, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Chester Park for Fusion Fridays! Stop by our Making a Change Group Youth & Parent Meet and Greet, connect with our team, enjoy great music with DJ Naji B, and spend the evening with families, community partners, and neighbors from across Chester.
