After 19 years of hosting *Our Community Event* on the first Saturday in August, we’re excited to share a new chapter.

We are expanding our impact beyond a single day—moving toward year-round care, support, and connection for our community. 💛

Already underway:
👕 Clothing giveaways at LINC — three days a week
✂️ Planning monthly free haircuts at the local shelter this summer
🚲 Upcoming free bike repairs and bike giveaways throughout the year
🙏 And an upcoming evening in the park bringing churches together for worship, unity, and community support

Our heart remains the same—hope, transformation, resources, and community care through Christian compassion—but our reach is growing.

We would love for you to be part of what’s ahead. When we reach out for help serving those in need, we hope you’ll join us in making a lasting difference.

We would also like to welcome Samantha Ewing to our Faith Based Network staff as our Shelter Services Manager! She's already been with us for a few weeks, but it seems she has been here for years. The rumor is she has known Truett for sometime and even speaks a little Arkansas. ?? She has worked in the faith-based non-profit realm for over five years in a multitude of positions, with the most recent being at Shepherd's House in Bend. She has enjoyed the discipling/case management role in her positions most of all. From a young age, Sam has enjoyed volunteering in many different settings such as her church’s youth group, Habitat for Humanity, and in other local homeless shelters, so her transition into working in the social services field was pretty seamless. Please help us welcome Sam to the Faith Based Network Team!

We are happy to announce that Dave Colburn has accepted our position at the Faith Based Network as the new Shelter Operations Manager. Dave has loads of experience throughout his years leading different types of teams. You will find Dave thoughtful, down to earth, compassionate, kind & calm, and even funny sometimes... lol. :) But the most important trait we love is how in love with Jesus he is! Please help us welcome Dave to the team!

We are aware of the recent activity by the City of Madras with our homeless friends today by the Madras Shelter and we recognize the hardship this creates for all those affected (the community and individuals). Our hearts remain with every individual facing any displacement and we are committed to treating each person with dignity and compassion. We will continue to stand in the gap for those needing basic needs every person deserves; safety, food and shelter. We will also continue to strengthen our partnership with the City of Madras to help our Madras Community thrive.

While we respect and support the city’s enforcement of current ordinances, our focus remains on serving those in need, period. The shelter property we manage lies within the boundaries of our Shelter's fence, but we of course care deeply for everyone in Jefferson County. Our shelter will continue to provide three meals a day and a safe, clean place to stay every night of the year for anyone who enters.

We want people in our beautiful shelter rather than outside! Everyone deserves a bed who wants one. If you know anyone impacted by this recent activity please encourage them to connect with us for care and support. Our staff and volunteers spend most of their Saturday getting CPR, AED and First Aid ⛑️ certified at Adventure Medics. At FBN we want to be ready and able for all our guests. Thank you staff and volunteers!

We urgently need weekly volunteers at LINC.
Monday–Wednesday | 10am–2pm

If you can give one day a week or one day a month, you can directly impact families in Jefferson County.

LINC is a local resource center providing basic needs support — clothing, food, rent and utility assistance, propane, and more. In 2025 alone, over 1,000 people received help through LINC.

Behind every number is a story.
A mom working to keep her kids housed.
A senior choosing between heat and groceries.
A neighbor unsure where to turn.

Volunteers make this possible.

You might sort clothing, pray with clients, or (after training) conduct interviews that help families take their next step forward.
This is what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Christ in our own community.
