Last Monday, we heard from fellow Kiwanian Jake Wright from the Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh, Michigan. He invited us, as well as all Chelsea Community to the Tecumseh Kiwanis Canoe Race.

May 11, 2026 - Club Dinner Meeting 5:30 pm Chelsea Hospital Dining Room. Speaker - Jake Wright, Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh, Tecumseh Canoe Race. Board Meeting to follow. Last Monday we heard from Dr. Michael McVey, Professor of Learning Technologies and Teacher Education at Eastern Michigan University, about AI in schools. He is also an elected trustee for Saline Area Schools, and an active member of the Michigan Association of School Boards.

Saline Kiwanis Super Inter-Club Event 5:45 pm, Saline American Legion.
Last Monday at a special meeting attended by members from eight local Kiwanis clubs, we heard from Jeff Hardcastle from the Border to Border Trail. Pictured, Jeff receives congratulations from Kiwanis President Mary Blashill as she displays a book to be donated to the community in Jeff's honor.

Last week, Chelsea Kiwanis heard from WMU Professor James Henry, LLMSW, Ph.D, Director of the FASTER Grant Program in the School of Social Work. His program provides family assessments and Trust Based Relational Intervention. Mary Blashill is presenting Professor Henry with the children’s book that will be donated to Chelsea Preschool & Kindergarten in his honor this week.

April 20, 2026 - Dinner Meeting 5:50 pm at Chelsea Hospital dining room. Speaker - Jim Henry, School of Social Work, EMU and former Director WMU Children's Trauma Assessment Center.
Last Monday, Chelsea Kiwanis heard from Hudson and Eric Van Hevel from Chelsea Robotics. They shared highlights from the recent state competition, which Chelsea hosted, drawing teams from many Michigan schools. Learn more about Chelsea Robotics at chelsearobotics.org

Last week we honored Lisa Allmendinger, longtime publisher of the Chelsea Update. The club presented a proclamation and letter recognizing Lisa for her years of dedicated service and contributions to the Chelsea community.
