Our gorgeous Holly is still available for adoption. She has the most adorable face, a stunning tuxedo coat, and is a sweet gentle girl. πŸ–€πŸ€

Holly was born outside a grocery store, TNR'd by two of our volunteers in 2025, and then we recently rescued her to the indoor life. She is steadily coming out of her shell in her foster home.

She loves being brushed, enjoys the company of other friendly cats, likes a good afternoon nap, looking out the window at the birds and squirrels, and an evening toy session. Holly leans into pets and is sweet, but she will need to go to a quiet home that is patient and allows her the time to get settled.

Holly is estimated to be under two years old. She is spayed, vaccinated, combo tested (negative), and microchipped. She would love to have other cat friends in her forever home, but she would prefer a home with no small children or dogs. Her adoption fee is $100. You can apply to adopt our precious girl here: https://www.scratchinc.org/adoption.

Today is $5 Friday if you'd like to support our TNR efforts! Donation link in the comments.

This year, we have Trapped-Neutered-Returned 169 community cats and counting! πŸˆπŸˆβ€β¬›

It costs us $35 per cat for TNR services, and we rely solely on donations. This doesn't include the flea medication that we supply each cat or any extras, like antibiotic shots when needed.

As a reminder, we can help with TNR in the following areas in Chattanooga (TN) city limits: Hixson, Red Bank, Lakesite, East Brainerd, Brainerd, and East Ridge. If you are outside these areas, we are happy to guide you.

Also, since we are working off a waitlist, you'll first receive an email from us at one of two accounts, [email protected] or [email protected]. So please monitor your inbox if you submit an application for assistance.

May TNR Round-Up! πŸͺ€

In May, we trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, and returned 22 community cats, including 13 females (with 3 pregnant spays) and 9 males. There are kittens at every colony it seems and every new request for help involves kittens.

This is one of the hardest times of year for those involved in TNR and rescue work. Volunteer groups and shelters are overwhelmed with requests, and there simply are not enough people, resources, funding, or surgery appointments to keep up. The heartbreaking reality is that there will not be placement available for every kitten born this season.

The only long-term solution is spaying and neutering pets and community cats. We know volunteers experiencing their first kitten season right now, and it has been devastating with sick, injured, and suffering cats and kittens all over.

Please support your local volunteer TNR groups and local shelters. We are doing everything we can to make a difference. ❀️🐱

This was a hard week of TNR. The weather has been so unpredictable that it's been difficult to plan. The remaining stragglers from the colonies we are working on decided not to show up, and we had one trap malfunction. Every colony has kittens right now, which makes everything so much more complicated. Sadly, there will not be placement for every kitten born.

Today, we had three community cats spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, and ear tipped at McKamey Animal Center. The male cat had his wounds clipped, cleaned, and received a long-lasting antibiotic injection. The two females will never have to endure another litter of kittens. We keep seeing people posting about only spaying the females, but please spay AND neuter!

As a reminder, any cat brought in for our Trap Neuter Release program MUST be brought in a cat trap. Bringing feral cats in pet carriers is a hazard for our staff, and we cannot accept cats in cat carriers.
You can borrow traps from MAC! Learn more about our Trap Neuter Release program here: https://mckameyanimalcenter.org/community-cats/

Rusty update on this Caturday! 🐱

Nearly three months ago, we rescued Rusty after he suffered a fractured pelvis that caused nerve damage and eventually required the amputation of his back right leg.

Our president did a wonderful job fostering Rusty while he healed both physically and emotionally. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Adjusting from life outdoors while injured to indoor living and extensive medical care was a big change for him, but he has come a long way.

Rusty is now with our friends at the Pet Placement Centerβ€”TN Humane Animal League and he will soon be available for adoption. He is once again settling into new a new indoor space, and he continues to love a Churu treat. 🧑

He is a sweet boy who will thrive with a patient adopter willing to give him the time and space he needs to feel safe and comfortable. And Rusty loves other cats!
