The Metrolina Storm Spotters are a local community organization of Storm Spotters and Chasers to bring you true and accurate ground truth of weather in NC and SC. The Metrolina Spotter Group was formed in 2020 to help bring severe weather incidents & warnings to the public & help report to the NWS/NOAA & Emergency Management. We are an independent group of Skywarn-experienced weather hobbyists that responded to a call to fulfill a need.

Get ready!! Tomorrow starts almost a week-long warm-up that reaches over the 80°F mark! I hope it's here to stay... By the way, this week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week so we will be posting some stuff later this week that will help you get thru and prepare for the potential severe season!

Did the Groundhog see its shadow??? I hope not because I'm done with winter! And next week we will see a warming trend where next Tuesday will be 61° during the day!!! Time for Snowmageddon to end!

Per the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC:

⚠️‼️Dangerous travel conditions tonight, travel is highly discouraged‼️⚠️

Temperatures are well below freezing across the area and sunset is less than an hour away. Any slushy/wet roads will quickly become solid ice after sunset, if not before. Gusty winds combined with very cold temperatures will create dangerous wind chills overnight. An extreme cold warning is in effect. You DO NOT want to be stranded on icy roads in these conditions tonight.

Frigid cold temps are slated to continue for the next 7-10 days. There's also ramblings back and forth about another storm-type system this-coming weekend. But 1 day it's yes and 1 day it's no, so we will play it by ear and see what Thursday looks like and go from there... TL;DR it's still gonna be freezing and the roads will remain icey due to re-freezing daily. Use caution out there!
