Dear Friends of Embry Hills Library,

I want to give a big, big shoutout to Sandy White who has just retired as the Friends of Embry Hills Library (FEHL) Chair of our Book Sale Committee.

As a longtime volunteer with FEHL Sandy shouldered the job of Chair by putting on a book sale nearly every month for the last several years (we were stormed out last January). She recruited and organized volunteers, found book donors and online sources for our books that didn’t sell (for which FEHL receives a percentage of their sales).

The results of her leadership include growth in our monthly revenue which allows FEHL to do more for the library - buy more books and technology, offer more activities for adults and children, and even provide attractive landscaping at the library entrance. Perhaps more important, the monthly book sales increased participation in the awareness and use of the library by members of our community. Seeing people young and old at last Saturday’s sale walking out to their cars with bulging bags of books delighted me.

Thank you, Sandy, for all you’ve done. I’m glad you’ll continue to volunteer with us!

We’re looking forward to offering a beginner Mah Jongg lesson during our Friday, October 2 open play at the Embry Hills Library from 1–3 PM.

To keep the lesson hands‑on and manageable, we’re limiting it to six participants who sign up in advance. You can reserve a spot using the link below or by emailing us at [email protected].

We’ll loan you everything you need. Please plan to arrive promptly at 1 PM, ready to learn.

Experienced players are always welcome at open play and do not need to sign up in advance.

Beginning players who have already taken a lesson may want to play together at a table during open play.

Note: We will not offer a guided play table on October 2, but guided play will return at future open plays.
