Summer Camp is in full swing at the Elaine Clark Center, and the building is buzzing with energy!

Our classrooms and hallways are filled with familiar faces, new friendships, laughter, learning, and plenty of summer fun. We're excited to welcome new camp counselors who are jumping right in and building connections with our campers.

A special thank you to Crushers Adaptive Sports for helping our students stay active, build skills, and experience the joy of sports in an inclusive environment. We're also grateful for the amazing campers and volunteers from Wieuca Road Baptist Church who are spending part of their summer serving, learning, and making memories alongside our students.

Summer at ECC is more than just a camp.

It's a place where children and young adults build confidence, friendships, independence, and community.

And judging by the smiles around campus, we're off to a fantastic start.

We’re thrilled to welcome Crushers Adaptive Sports to The Elaine Clark Center this summer! Their team will be with us all season long, bringing their passion, expertise, and love of baseball to our campers.

Crushers Adaptive Sports specializes in making athletics fun, accessible, and empowering for children and young adults of all abilities. Throughout the summer, they’ll be teaching baseball skills, encouraging teamwork, and helping our campers build confidence both on and off the field.

We’re excited for a summer filled with connection, movement, and lots of baseball fun. Welcome to the ECC family, Crushers—we’re so glad you’re here!

Scholarships help ensure that families who need the Elaine Clark Center can access the support their children and young adults deserve.

Sometimes a scholarship is temporary. A job loss, medical crisis, or divorce can send a family's finances into a tailspin. A scholarship helps ensure that a child's progress doesn't stop when life becomes difficult.

Sometimes a scholarship changes the rhythm of a family. Instead of spending hours each week driving between appointments, a child can receive therapies and support in one place. Families gain something precious: time together.

Sometimes a scholarship means the difference between a young adult spending their days isolated at home and having a thriving community of friends, activities, purpose, and belonging.

Scholarships do far more than cover tuition.

They provide stability during uncertain times. They create opportunities for growth. They strengthen families. They build community.

Most importantly, they ensure that a child's potential is never limited by a family's financial circumstances.

Camp starts today!

The center is buzzing — even more than usual — as new and returning faces arrive, ready to kick off a summer full of joy, connection, and adventure. School may be out, but the fun is just beginning at ECC!

We still have space available during select weeks this summer, and we’d love to welcome more campers into the mix.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared the Elaine Clark Center from the perspective of someone who gets to see it from the inside.

Not from a brochure.

Not from a fundraising packet.

From the hallways, classrooms, and conversations that most people never see.

I’ve watched exhausted families finally exhale after finding support they didn’t know existed.

One family came to ECC after navigating a child’s traumatic brain injury. Every night was school pickups, therapy appointments, dinner in the car, exhausted kids, and starting over again the next morning.

The Frank Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund didn’t just help provide care for their child.

It gave the family room to breathe again.

That’s what scholarships do at the Elaine Clark Center.

They don’t just support services.

Sometimes, they help unlock families.

Beginning June 15, we’ll begin Scholarship Week to help more families access the care, education, and support they need.

And over the next few weeks, I’ll keep showing you why this place matters.

Our garden is one of the happiest corners of the Elaine Clark Center — a place where tiny hands learn big lessons.

Here, our students help plant, water, and harvest the fruits and vegetables they grow. They learn that patience has rewards… and sometimes those rewards are sweet, fresh treats straight from the garden.

None of this would be possible without the incredible Christ Child Society of Atlanta. Their volunteers plant, prune, w**d, and lovingly care for every inch of our garden and flower beds. Their time, consistency, and heart help our students learn, explore, and thrive.

We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and partnership.

Thank you for helping our garden — and our students — grow.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Because of their sacrifice, organizations like the Elaine Clark Center have the freedom to build communities where children and young adults with special needs are seen, supported, educated, and included.

Many of the families we serve include veterans, active military members, first responders, and public servants who understand sacrifice deeply — not just in service to country, but in service to their loved ones every single day.

Today, we honor those who never came home, and we remain grateful for the freedoms that allow places like ECC to exist with compassion, dignity, and hope at the center of our work.

From all of us at the Elaine Clark Center, thank you.

Traffic report from Chamblee… there’s a backup on the playground at Elaine Clark Center.

It turns out when children find a place where they are seen, supported, challenged, and celebrated… everyone wants in.

The good news?

We still have openings in our **Child Development Program** for children **6 weeks to 4 years old**, including **infant and toddler classrooms.**

✨ Small class sizes
✨ Exceptional teacher-to-student ratios
✨ Inclusive classrooms for children of all abilities
✨ On-site therapy spaces with outside therapists welcome
✨ Nursing support for children with ongoing medical needs
✨ A community that believes every child belongs

At ECC, we don’t just care for children…

Sometimes the next step after high school feels unclear.

Not because your young adult isn’t capable.

But because finding the right place can feel almost impossible.

A place that sees potential instead of limitations.
A place that builds confidence, friendships, routines, and real-life skills.
A place where young adults with special needs can keep growing instead of staying stuck at home.

That’s what we work to create every day at the Elaine Clark Center 💙

Our ECC Life Program offers part-time and full-time opportunities for young adults ready for:

✨ More independence
✨ More connection
✨ More confidence
✨ More purpose
✨ More joy in everyday life

The ECC Life experience includes:

✨ Life and job skills training
✨ Community outings and local experiences
✨ Peer friendships and social development
✨ Meaningful daily structure
✨ Music, movement, creativity, and fun

Because everyone deserves a place where they feel included, valued, and excited about what comes next.
