"If you can read, you can educate yourself about anything in the world." — Dolly Parton 📚✨Dolly Parton gave the world countless iconic songs, but her greatest legacy may very well be the millions of children she inspired to love reading. Inspired by her father’s inability to read or write, Dolly launched the Imagination Library in 1995. Since then, the program has mailed over 200 million free books directly to children from birth until kindergarten, sparking curiosity and closing literacy gaps worldwide. Dolly showed us that putting a book into a child’s hands changes the trajectory of their entire life. She understood what public libraries prove every single day: access to stories, learning, and imagination should be free and accessible to everyone, no matter where they come from. Today, we celebrate a true legend whose generosity made the world a brighter, kinder, and more literate place.❤️ Honor Dolly’s legacy today: visit your local public library, check out a book with a little one, or support early literacy programs in your community.
