‼️ WARNING DOUGLAS COUNTY HOME OWNERS ‼️

DO NOT SIGN ANY AGREEMENTS OR LET ANY ROOFING COMPANIES CANVASING (KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR) TO INSPECT YOUR ROOF!

One thing homeowners should be aware of after a major hailstorm is the paperwork some storm-chasing contractors put in front of you.

Many will tell you it's "just an inspection form" or "just permission to get on your roof." Sometimes that's true. Sometimes it isn't.

We've heard too many stories from homeowners who later discovered they signed a contingency agreement, authorization to represent them with their insurance company, or even a contract that obligated them to use that contractor if insurance approved the claim.

Never sign anything without reading every word.

A legitimate roofing contractor should be willing to explain exactly what you're signing and give you time to review it. If someone is pressuring you to sign on the spot, claiming the deal is only good today, or telling you not to worry about the fine print, that should be a red flag.

Before signing:
• Read every page carefully
• Ask for a copy immediately
• Verify the contractor is locally licensed and insured
• Check local reviews and references
• Never feel pressured into making a same-day decision

Unfortunately, hailstorms don't just attract roofing contractors. They also attract opportunists looking to capitalize on stressed homeowners.

Hire local. Hire reputable. Hire someone who will still be here years from now if you need warranty work or service.

If you're in the Douglas County area and need help finding a trusted local roofing contractor, send us a message. We'd be happy to connect you with established local professionals who have a reputation to protect and a long-term commitment to our community.

Heads up to every business owner in Douglas County with a website 👇

ADA "drive-by" lawsuits are real, and they're hitting small businesses hard. Plaintiffs' firms run automated scans across thousands of websites looking for accessibility violations — missing alt text, low color contrast, unlabeled forms, no keyboard support — and fire off demand letters before you even know there's a problem. Settlements typically land between $5,000 and $25,000. Some go a lot higher. And once you're a target, your name gets passed around their network.

Good news: a fellow Castle Rock business, 72 Hour Web Design, just released a FREE accessibility widget you can install on your website in about two minutes. Two lines of code. Works on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, custom — anything.

It gives your visitors real WCAG 2.1 AA accommodations (text resize, high contrast, dyslexia-friendly font, reading guide, big cursor, keyboard nav, and more) AND it demonstrates the good-faith ADA commitment that courts look for when deciding whether to dismiss these complaints.

Is it a silver bullet? No. Full ADA compliance takes structural work on your site. But it's a real, free first step — and one of the cheapest pieces of legal insulation you'll add to your business all year.

Today we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a reminder that freedom came at a price paid by heroes who never made it home.

May we honor their sacrifice, remember their courage, and never take for granted the lives they gave for all of us. 🇺🇸
