A new chapter begins! 🌎💙

On August 6, our newest AFS exchange students completed their Arrival Orientation and finally met the host families who will welcome them into their homes and communities.

There were smiles, hugs, balloons, handmade signs, and so much excitement as everyone met for the first time. These students have traveled far from home, but thanks to their wonderful host families, they already have a new place to call home here in Massachusetts. 🏡❤️

We are so excited to see the friendships, experiences, and unforgettable memories that the year ahead will bring!

Each year, our sponsored programs students have the opportunity to participate in Government Day. Students from all over Mass Bay (and CT this year too!) visit the Massachusetts state house, speak with local government officials, and enjoy Boston as a group!

Thank you to our SP team for making this event a highlight of the exchange year for everyone involved 🩷

New York City through the eyes of Amelie, an exchange student from Germany!

New York is such an iconic American city, it's easy to understand why many students make the trip to visit. Yellow taxis, Times Square, and the Statue of Liberty all caught Amelie's eye during her trip! 🇺🇸

AFS spans generations and the globe 🩷 🌎 🕊️

Back in April, hosted an alumni gathering in Boston. Many people were able to attend, socialize, and connect with the AFS community! Thank you to the team who put the event together and helped spread the word in the Mass Bay area.

During April break, Leonie visited the Basketball Hall of Fame and went bowling with exchange friends!

The friendships created between fellow students are some of the most impactful connections made during an exchange year. The exchange student network continues to be a meaningful resource, even after students return home from their year abroad. ❤️

Alex from Germany had the amazing opportunity to visit Puerto Rico with her host school and classmates! The experience, which she says was the best week of her exchange year, was an opportunity to connect with school friends more closely while also learning lots.

The week long trip included helping to build a house for a local family, cleaning a turtle habitat beach, learning about indigenous spirituality, as well as some amazing sight seeing and tropical weather!

Thank you to Alex's host school for providing this unique opportunity to all of the kids involved 🕊️🌱 It's wonderful to have school partnerships that share common values!
