With October on the horizon, lets kick off breast cancer awareness month with some some fast facts! courtesy of National Breast Cancer Foundation 🩷

• 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

• This year, an estimated 382,640 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.

• An estimated 2,670 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in the United States.

• When diagnosed in an early, localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate for breast cancer is over 99%.

• There are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

A few weeks ago, we put out a call for some homemade items that we can put into our care bags that we give to newly diagnosed individuals. Well Heidi O'Clare-Tompson, RSVP Volunteer Coordinator with the Aroostook Agency on Aging, definitely came through! 🩷

Thanks to the RSVP Knitters, a Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, we received the most beautiful assortment of cozy items. The RSVP Knitters provided lap blankets, prayer shawls and socks! 🪡🧵🧶

I cannot thank you enough for the kindness and generosity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
