Below is a link to an online petition asking you to pledge to support Civil Service staff at SIUC. Civil Service staff at SIU Carbondale are bargaining for a fair agreement that reflects our value to the university community. While management has committed to the Compensation 2030 plan, their proposals so far fall short - raising some starting wages but leaving long-term employees behind. Those who endured years of salary freezes are still not being recognized, and many staff struggle to make ends meet. Nearly 40% of Civil Service employees depend on state benefits to subsidize their income, and most cannot afford to retire on their SURS pension. One job should be enough.

We are calling for:

** A living wage for all staff

** De-compression for long-term employees

** Equitable starting wages for new hires

** Fair sick leave—meeting the faculty and AP standard of 43 non-accruable sick days

** Respect for our work and an end to constant overwork

** A return to routine hiring practices

We would love to get as many signatures as we can before bargaining tomorrow!

ACsE members,

I hear that A LOT of you were able to view the Board of Trustees meeting yesterday.

Huge thanks to our bargaining team members Diana Lyall and Rhonda Radford for their trip to Springfield to represent us! Diana did great speaking on our behalf. Thanks to Kelly Mason for sending the link out!

Just a reminder if we want to have conversations amongst ourselves, which is GREAT, please use your personal email addresses if possible. We want to use SIU email only for general information as it can be subject to a FOIA request. Or at least, be very careful what you put out there.

The bargaining team will be in touch as soon as we have something to report regarding the contract. We wont be putting specifics in email but we will present any/everything at a meeting as usual. We are still working hard to get a fair contract for all!
