🚨Local Residents Needed on Advisory Boards🚨

Advisory boards play an important role in shaping policies, programs, and initiatives that impact the city and broader region. These volunteer positions provide residents with the opportunity to share their expertise, represent community interests, and make meaningful contributions to the future of Cape Girardeau.

The City is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2026 Citizen Academy and for all boards and commissions. The following appointments are anticipated through June.

• Citizen Academy
• Board of Adjustment
• Tax Increment Financing
• Historic Preservation Commission
• Cape Girardeau Regional Airport
• Downtown Community Improvement District (CID)
• Board of Appeals
• VisitCape
• Special Business District
• Cape Girardeau Public Library

Board members attend public meetings (typically monthly) and may be asked to participate in special projects or community events. Terms, deadlines, and eligibility requirements vary by board.
