What an informative presentation today from Lorena Vazquez of P & C Bank. She shared important information about fraud prevention and current fraud trends. She gave club members tips on how to protect ourselves from these schemes. Thank you for sharing this timely topic with us today Lorena!

What a fun and interesting presentation from our GRSP student, Lara Haiduc, today! She shared with the club about her family, friends, hobbies, her home country of Belgium, as well as about her time at ABAC thus far. Thank you Lara!

We enjoyed hearing from all of the high school football coaches in the area last week. We appreciate the influence they have over the young people in our community and how they all realize they are not only building teams, but responsible young leaders. We wish them all a successful season! We encourage all of you to get out and go to a game or two this season and support our local teams! 🏈

What fun we had at our social at MamaRita’s last night meeting our new GRSP student, Lara Haiduc from Belgium, along with her father. It’s always nice to gather and visit and meet new people. We always love hearing from our RYLA students. Today Eli Spencer and Chad Heard gave a presentation about their recent RYLA experience. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development program run by Rotary. Our club is honored to send students each year at no cost to them. It is a 3 day camp that includes presentations, activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including leadership fundamentals and ethics, communication skills, problem solving and conflict management. Eli and Chad learned a great deal at RYLA. We thank them for sharing their experiences with us.

Club member David Cooper gave an informative talk to the club today about the current state of AI and what it can and cannot do. It sparked interesting conversations. If anyone hasn’t experimented with it yet, David encouraged us to try it out! Thanks for sharing this information with us today David.

Today we learned a great deal about the Department of Public Health and our Southwest Health District from August Bundy, RN, County Nurse Manager and
Bobby Ward, District Public Information Officer. Our local health department plays a vital role in keeping our community healthy and safe. We thank them for all they do!

Thank you to Nicole Cromer, clinical director of Georgia Pines CSB, for informing us about all of the services that they provide in our area, as well as the status of maintaining a center here in Mitchell County. We know how vital these services are to our community and appreciate all they do.
