True peace is found only in a restored relationship with God. As we read in: Isaiah 48:22 ““There is no peace for the wicked,” says Yahweh.” (LSB)
Consider from a worldly perspective the United Nations slogan: “Peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet.”
Sounds good; makes us feel good, right? An organization creating peace for the world, really?
Wrong! Good attempts; I am being sarcastic and giving a little credit here, for some of their actions. But in many other ways, horrible and wicked in not only their ambitions but their actions as well. 100% deceiving in the context of true, godly peace.
Does this mean we should stay out of politics or any other worldly ways of life and influence?
Of course not, we live in the world but are no longer of it. Therefore all that we do as Christians, in our new nature and living in the world, connects back to God, and Christ, and His Spirit; The Trinity of God.
Our freedoms and life in America, and our desires, must be done in a manner that is obedient to and follows Christ, not perfect, as no one or no thing in the world is perfect. And so, as Christians, we have a story to tell in all that we say and do.
For example, why do I [Josh] vote for and support conservative politicians; conservative government leaders at the federal and state and local levels?
Well, first of all, I trust and follow Jesus Christ, and because of this, I try to live out my life according to God’s word and his teachings. Not perfectly, but the best I can with His help, predominately by His Word and God’s Spirit living in me, who helps me to better understand and apply His Word in my everyday life.
Also, consider our American history, it clearly shows the sovereign, loving, merciful, just, and gracious work and will of God. Now, we are not a perfect nation, and never have been or never will be, as none of us are and no nation is, and yet, we are faced everyday with choices that impact the people around us.
And to align my decisions with God’s word and His blessings, I choose to vote for people who lead our nation at all levels, the best they can, according to God’s commands and biblical truth. Again, not perfectly, but their conservative, Republican records show they mostly do. But again, not perfect.
Most conservatives stand for life, liberty, justice, and freedom for the betterment of the nation as a whole and not any individual over another. Plus they hold to the originality of America’s founding Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution, which are the greatest government documents in the world, that best aligns to God’s Word, not perfectly, but the best the world has seen.
And these founding documents protect our God given rights and freedom, and were written and made into law for a moral and just society, where no man or women can be king over us and force us to do anything or physically hurt or murder, or take anything or anyone from us just because they want to. This is not the case now and we must keep it this way.
Brothers and Sisters, as Christians, we must find a way to tell a better story and point what we say and do back to God almighty, to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If not, how can we be any different from those in the world and those who are not saved? If we are not willing to cast a vote and make a difference, then who are we really and what are we really doing in service to God Almighty and on behalf of our Nation as dual citizens of heaven and America?
And I will tell you that God does not expect you to sit on the sidelines and shirk your God given responsibilities. Nope! He wants you in the battle, taking ground for Him, and as His word tells us, in Romans 13:1: “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist have been appointed by God.” (LSB)
I sure do want a say, by my vote, and all of us should, for the government leaders that we will willingly submit to in a godly way rather than having to refuse and reject ungodly and unrighteous, wicked laws and ways of evil leaders who advocate for sin. When this happens our lives and the lives of our family and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are at risk.
Scripture teaches that God established three institutions: the family, the church, and civil government. Government was not man’s invention but God’s design to promote justice, restrain evil, and maintain order among people (Romans 13:1-4). Throughout the Bible, civil government is recognized as a legitimate authority operating under God’s sovereignty. Voting is one way Christians acknowledge the importance of good government and participate in the stewardship of this God-ordained institution.
And in Jeremiah 29:7, we see “‘Seek the peace of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to Yahweh on its behalf; for in its peace you will have peace.’” (LSB). We learn from this Scripture that Christians are called to be salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Voting is one practical way believers can seek the welfare of their communities and nation.
Decisions made by elected leaders affect schools, families, religious liberty, public safety, and economic opportunity. Throughout Scripture, faithful men and women such as Joseph, Daniel, Esther, and Nehemiah engaged with government to bless those around them. Rather than withdrawing from public life, Christians are called to influence their communities for good and pursue justice, mercy, and righteousness (Micah 6:8; Galatians 6:10).
Consider Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous increase, the people are glad, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.” (LSB)
Consider also, Luke 12:48: “...From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.” (LSB)
Americans enjoy freedoms and opportunities that much of the world has never known. The ability to vote is both a privilege and a responsibility. Scripture teaches that God expects us to faithfully steward the gifts and opportunities He has entrusted to us (Matthew 25:14-30; 1 Peter 4:10).
Faithful stewardship of our vote involves more than simply casting a ballot—it requires taking the time to become educated and informed about the candidates, issues, and policies before us, and seeking God’s wisdom through prayer as we make those decisions. Participating thoughtfully and prayerfully in elections is one way Christians can exercise faithful stewardship and help preserve the blessings of liberty for future generations.
And finally, consider Psalm 78:4, “We will not conceal them from their children, But recount to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, And His strength and His wondrous deeds that He has done.” (LSB)
Scripture repeatedly calls believers to think beyond themselves and invest in future generations (Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Psalm 78:4-7; Proverbs 13:22). Elections help shape the culture, laws, and institutions that our children and grandchildren will inherit.
While the Bible does not specifically command voting, it consistently teaches personal responsibility and faithful action when opportunities are available (James 4:17; Esther 4:14). Christians should prayerfully and thoughtfully participate in civic life, recognizing that today’s decisions often have consequences far beyond our own generation.
Get out and vote this election and vote with biblical values, not feelings or subjective opinions and self-serving motives that contradict the word of God.
Stand firm and vote conservative, and not for liberal politicians who champion sin and make these sins into laws of our land. We cannot allow any socialist, marxist, or communist agendas take root in our land, not even any far-right, Neo-nazi conservative agendas which are not representative of the current, mainstream Republican Party.
May God Bless our great nation so that we may be a blessing to many nations, especially God's people.
