Celebrate the 250th Anniversary by decorating a pumpkin for our contest!
Our theme this year: Celebrating America’s 250th anniversary!!

Youth can enter in one of three age groups:

Cloverbud (ages 5–8), Junior (9–13), or Senior (14–18).

Decorate your pumpkin with paint or other decorations—no carving, please—and bring it to the Kershaw County Office on October 23, between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Pumpkins will be judged, and winners announced October 30. Then they’ll be displayed outside the office for the community to enjoy this Halloween. We can’t wait to see your patriotic creations! 🇺🇸

Be a Food Scientist! 🧪
Do you like to cook and experiment in the kitchen? Discover the science behind the foods we eat in the South Carolina 4-H Be a Food Scientist Project!

Ages: 7–18 (younger youth may need a kitchen helper)
Project Dates: October 19–December 18, 2026
Cost: $20
Registration Deadline: September 25, 2026

Please note the quick turnaround! Registration closes September 25, so interested youth are encouraged to sign up soon.

Through 3 newsletters, 3 instructional videos, and a 4-H Project Record Book, participants will explore food science careers, beverage development, and the science of sugar crystallization and caramelization.

🍽️🔥 Calling all Senior 4-H'ers! 🔥🍽️
Do you have what it takes to be the next 4-H cooking champion?
Gather your team of 2-4 members and bring your best dish to the SC 4-H Healthy Living Team Cooking Challenge on November 14, 2026! 🏆🍳
Teams will have one hour to prepare and plate a meal. Plates will be scored on cooking technique, sanitation and safety and presentation.
More details, including times and a judging rubric, will be provided to teams once registration has closed. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to showcase your skills and compete for the top prize.
The competition is open to teams of two to four Senior 4-H members (ages 14-18 as of 1/1/2027) with one adult chaperone per team.
Prospective teams should contact their local 4-H agent if they are interested in forming or registering a team.
Registration deadline is October 30th, 2026. However, space is limited. So, do not delay!
