Today it is the largest Wisconsin organization of individuals interested in the advancement of science education. As you wrap up your semester, I invite you to plan ahead and join us for our 15th Annual Educator Preparation Programs Environmental Education Summit happening on Monday, August 17th in Oshkosh.

Join us to network with other faculty and staff, learn about the latest research advancing Wisconsin climate education, and get training in three climate curriculum modules you can use in your programs to help your pre-service educators be ready to integrate environmental education in their future classrooms.

Registration is $15 and includes:
Lunch
Climate, Water, and Resilience Educator Certification and activities
Climate and Wildlife Educator Certification and activities
Climate and Carbon Educator Certification and activities
An optional facilitator training will be held at the end of the day for those who would like to bring educator certification of these programs to their classrooms!

Want to explore modeling as a science practice with a cohort of other educators as part of a free, self-paced professional learning experience? We’re relaunching our asynchronous workshop, just in time for summer! This workshop focuses on having students visualize photosynthesis at the molecular, cellular, and ecosystem levels.

The workshop opens on June 28, and participants will have a six-week window in which to complete all workshop activities.

S***m have long been thought of as streamlined DNA delivery vehicles, carrying little more than a father’s genes to the egg.

But a new study shows that in mice, s***m may transmit the father’s influence in another way.

During their passage through the epididymis, the coiled tube where they mature after leaving the te**es, s***m pick up messenger RNAs (mRNAs), RNA transcripts of genes that contain the genetic instructions for making proteins.

These mRNAs seem to be transferred to the fertilized egg, where they may affect the developing embryo.
