Join us for the October and November Fall series workshops!

Friday, October 16: Article 11 & 12--Needs Improvement (NI) Plans--What are they? "An improvement plan is an opportunity for growth. However, it may have an impact on your employment status. This workshop will breakdown the various components of an NI plan, required components of a NI plan, and the potential outcomes." This workshop will occur on Zoom from 1:00 pm -3:00 pm. Wednesday, November 18: Article 11--Tenure: Understanding the Final Tenure Recommendation and Impact on the Next Employment Contract. "After each Fall term, tenure candidates are provided a tenure recommendation from the Tenure Review Committee for the upcoming academic year's employment contract. At this workshop, we will focus on understanding each recommendation and explain the impact of each recommendation on your employment status for the upcoming academic year." This workshop will occur in-person at the AFT Union Office from 4:00 pm -6:00 pm. Call or Email to RSVP.

Roger Bowerman is a candidate for the Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees for Area 2 in the November 3, 2026 election.
AFT Local 1828 endorses Roger as he brings direct experience from inside the Community College system serving as faculty and in many other leadership roles. Area 2 serves Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village (Ventura County portion), Oak Park, Lake Sherwood, Hidden Valley, Santa Rosa Valley and Portions of Camarillo.

We were proud to attend the CFT and AFT Local Labor Leader of the Year celebration!

It was a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow union leaders, educators, and advocates to recognize the dedication and hard work that strengthen our labor movement.
Congratulations to this year’s honoree, and thank you to everyone who continues to stand up for workers, educators, and our communities. We’re grateful to be part of such a strong union family!
