4 scouts and 3 adults just completed a beautiful 15 mile backpacking trip in the San Rafael Wilderness, in the Santa Ynez backcountry. Lots of signs of bears along the route but no actual bear sightings. The scouts learned how to hang a bear bag, purify stream water, and trail etiquette. We never found the actual historic cabin, but had a great time looking and Cameron Moise got in an extra 2 miles hiking farther up the trail looking with the adults while Peyton, Dylan and Ted rested.

And they're off to hike the La Jolla trail for the night!

808 Scouts Teddy and Peyton swimming at the Lower Punch Bowl in Santa Paula with their sisters, 3808 Bear Scout Breda and Girl Scout Teagan. It was a seven mile out and back day hike up the Santa Paula Canyon Trail aka "The Punchbowls," on Saturday, September 7th.
