The Christmas Parade is scheduled for tonight in Calais, but with the extremely cold temperatures in the forecast, we have decided that our youth skaters and riders will not participate in this year’s Christmas float. We will still have a presence in the parade with a truck, which will be staffed solely by adult BLMF Committee Members. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish everyone a safe and warm evening!

As part of our ongoing mission to support our community, the Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund is proud to make a contribution to Friday Bags, an effort organized by Calais Elementary School.

With the recent government shutdown affecting federal employees and their families - and with uncertainty around benefits - this program provides essential weekend food assistance to students who may need a little extra help.

Now more than ever, it’s important that we come together as a community to look out for one another. The Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund is honored to help ensure that no child goes without.

If you are able to donate, you can drop donations off at the school.

Join us Saturday, October 4th from 5-7 PM at the Calais Skatepark for the 2025 Memorial Jam, hosted by the Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund. This free, all-ages event welcomes all experience levels and brings the community together for an evening of action sports, fun, and remembrance.

Action Sports Jam - Skateboarding, scootering, BMX, and rollerblading, with prizes for top riders and giveaways for both participants and spectators. It’s free to enter, so bring your skills-or just come cheer everyone on!

We’ll also have free youth skate lessons, bounce houses, kids' games, and concessions available by donation. Thinking about trying it out for the first time? We’ve got skateboards, a scooter, and a BMX bike available for anyone to use, along with helmets and pads—all free of charge.

Local skate shop Undertow (from Machias) will be set up at the park with gear and products for sale, so you can grab something new or support a local business while you're there.

This event is held in loving memory of our fallen CSC members, Brendan Leddy and Matthew Doten. As always, 10% of all funds raised go right back into the community to support mental health initiatives, su***de awareness, recovery services, and mental health programs for Veterans.

Come ride, remember, and give back. We hope to see you there!

Back in the day, this would’ve been a classic “deck toss” - a skateboard launched into the crowd, and whoever caught it kept it.

But with so many young riders in the mix, we switched things up a few years ago to keep it fun and safe.

Now, instead of boards flying through the air, we toss a few hundred stickers into the crowd. The goal? Scoop up as many as you can, hunt down the special one, and trade it in for a prize!

It’s been a hit - no injuries, just smiles. And the best part? Everyone walks away with something, even if they don’t score the prize sticker.

We took home "Best Original" in the International Festival Parade. It's hard to tell from this angle, but Spencer is standing on an oversized skateboard.

Jayna Smith [email protected] The 52nd Annual International Homecoming Festival is now in the books, and organizers are calling it a success. The weeklong celebration once again honored the friendship between Calais, Maine, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick. With cooperative weather and community spiri...
