The Blue Devil Fund

The Blue Devil Fund Founded in 2010, The Blue Devil Fund is a not-for-profit org. aimed at raising money for Calais charities with the use of basketball & Alumni Games.

Founded in 2010, The Blue Devil Fund is a not-for-profit organization aimed at raising money for Calais-area charities, by using the popular game of basketball as the organization's catalyst. The Blue Devil Fund's main charitable events are our annual Alumni Basketball Classic held over famed International Homecoming Festival Weekend, which features games for both Lady Blue Devil and Blue Devil gr

aduates, and our annual Divots & Dunks Charity Golf Scramble hosted at St. Croix Country Club. Alumni Classics have been held annually since 2007 and Divots & Dunks has been held annually since 2018. Since its creation, we are proud to have raised thousands of dollars for local charities in Calais, Maine and throughout Washington County. We hope the continued support from our community, generous sponsors, numerous volunteers, and great fans will lead to sustained growth!

To say we are humbled by Olivia’s decision to write an essay highlighting our work in the community and appreciative of Jo's Diner & Pizzeria for selecting us to benefit from their 2025 Grammar for Giving contest is an extreme understatementπŸ«ΆπŸ™πŸ‘ Thank you very much to all parties involved!

While we are always in favor of a delicious meal from Jo’s, we highly recommend choosing them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or ALL THREE) on Monday, December 15! πŸ˜‹ Thanks so much, everyone!

Thanks to an anonymous donor, 100% of donations to this year’s Jean Wood Memorial Holiday Book Drive will be generously matched. If interested, please find ways to donate in the attached picture.

To date, we have donated over 8,000 books to Elementary School students across Washington County in memory of Jean Wood.

Mrs. Wood was the principal and a teacher for over 40 years at Calais Elementary School and a strong believer in the importance of reading in a child’s development. Upon her passing, BDF founder (and Mrs. Wood’s grandson), Chris Taylor, pledged to honor her memory by sharing her love of reading with students across the county through our annual book drive.

Please help us with our Holiday Book Drive again this year, with every dollar raised being matched by a very generous anonymous donor. Also a friendly reminder that The Blue Devil Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so donations are tax deductible. Thank you for everyone’s continued support! πŸ“šπŸŽ„πŸ’™

As part of our continued commitment to Assists in the Community, we are proud to share we donated 5️⃣0️⃣ turkeys ($600) in support of the 21st annual Turkey-a-Thon, which raised almost $40,000 in total this year! All money raised will be donated to food pantries across Downeast Maine to help families make the holiday season a little more special. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make the 21st annual such a grand success! πŸ¦ƒπŸπŸ§‘πŸ— WQDY and WCRQ

We had a special moment at our DIVOTS & DUNKS Charity Golf Scramble (VII) fundraiser this year: Stevie Morrison had an impressive Hole in 1 on the St. Croix Country Club’s 6th hole! As a result, Stevie won a pair of brand new drivers, courtesy of Pratt Chevrolet GMC/Pratt Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram who generously sponsored numerous Hole in 1 prizes on the course!

Stevie is pictured here with Pratt owner and big supporter of The Blue Devil Fund, Ian Pratt πŸš˜πŸ€β›³οΈ
