Storm update

Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee briefing last night — slow-moving coastal nor’easter hitting Friday through the weekend. Primary concerns: damaging wind gusts 40-60 mph, downed limbs & power outages (leaves still on trees), prolonged rain, beach erosion, coastal flooding, dangerous surf. Wind Advisory / High Wind Warning from 8am Friday to 2am Sunday, Coastal Flood Watch Friday afternoon to Sunday evening

With a coastal nor’easter approaching the Cape and Islands today through the weekend, please take time to make sure you, your family, and your neighbors are set.

We have a lot of elderly residents who could use a check-in — please look out for them.

Town staff, public safety, DPW, DNR, Fire, and Police are working hard to have everything in place. Town staff will stay in coordination through the weekend and can expand operations if needed.

Please:
- Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and boats

- Charge phones and medical devices, have meds & flashlights ready

- Avoid beaches, flood-prone roads, and high surf

- Never drive through flooded roads

Don’t forget to follow our town Fire, Police, DNR, DPW and other departments and the town website for official updates.

Maintenance work will be performed on the Sagamore Bridge on Tuesday, September 15th, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. During this time, traffic on the Sagamore Bridge will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction.

The sidewalk on the bridge will remain open during work.

No wide loads will be permitted to cross the bridge while the lane restrictions are in place.
