Southcoast Toastmasters

Southcoast Toastmasters We are a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills via a worldwide network of clubs. They listen and answer.

We meet monthly from 12-1pm every 2nd Thursday on Zoom and every 4th Thursday both on Zoom and at the Sandwich Public Library. Through its worldwide network of clubs, each week Toastmasters helps more than a quarter of a million men and women of every ethnicity, education level and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others. Toastmasters conti

nues to build on its legacy by providing a strong foundation for the future. Its proven educational program continually evolves to address the needs of the world’s communicators and leaders both today and tomorrow. Toastmasters members learn to tell their story. They plan and lead. They give feedback – and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership. They do this by practice and learning skills by filling meeting roles, ranging from giving a prepared or an impromptu speech to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in positive manner, focusing on what was done correctly and what could be improved. Great communicators tend to be great leaders. If you have any question or concerns please message us.

One thing I love the most about Toastmasters is the amount of support we give each other. I was in a speech evaluation contest tonight and I didn't win or even place. But as soon as it was over, I got emails and texts from people who were there who congratulated me on how I performed and on getting as far as I did. I learned a lot from watching the other evaluators, and I felt the support from all the other Toastmasters who knew just how it felt to try and come up short. We all do it eventually, but having the support of a whole group of people makes it feel a whole lot better for having tried!

When you're writing a speech or developing a presentation, think about what you want your audience to think, feel, or do at the end of it, then write everything with that goal in mind. Having a clear purpose makes it much easier to know what to put in and what to leave out. Come to a meeting and learn more tips about how to write and deliver a speech.

We are a Toastmasters club located in Buzzards Bay, MA. We meet on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of every month from 12 noon to 1 pm to work on our public speaking and leadership skills.
