For a child who's never owned a book, that first one can be life changing. Every year, Assistance League® Sacramento puts over 15,000 books into the hands of kids at 38 elementary schools, because every child deserves a story to call their own.

But it doesn't stop at the delivery truck. Members from .Sacramento also stock school library shelves with books that celebrate what makes each of us different and send Book Buddies straight into classrooms to sit beside kids as they learn to read.

Books purchased. Books packed. Books delivered. Minds opened. 📖🏫

🎉National Thrift Shop Day was a hit at Assistance League® of Greater Wilmington! On Saturday, August 15, the chapter celebrated with a fun-filled event that brought smiles to shoppers of all ages, including the youngest visitors.

Congratulations to the volunteers who made the day so special and thank you to everyone who came out to shop and support the Assistance League of Greater Wilmington's thrift shop, where proceeds go directly toward funding philanthropic programs that make a real difference in the community. 💛

Every holiday season, the White House Historical Association releases a uniquely crafted ornament commemorating a piece of White House history. The WHHA was founded in 1961 following Jacqueline Kennedy's restoration of the White House, and it has no political affiliation with either party and no involvement in any administration's policies. Its mission is simply to preserve the history of the White House and its furnishings.

Every year, Assistance League® of Northern Virginia sells these collectible ornaments as part of its fundraising efforts, and this year is extra special: with the nation's 250th anniversary celebration, the WHHA released this year's ornament earlier than ever!

🎉 Volunteers from Assistance League® of Southwest Washington had a wonderful time hosting the Kids Parade during the City of Camas' annual Camas Days Hometown Celebration!

This year's theme, "Celebrating 50 Years of Camas Days and 250 Years of America," brought out amazing creativity — fire trucks, stilt walkers, llamas, patriotic costumes, hippies with their VW van, and even George Washington crossing the Delaware. Costume winners dressed as a classic ice cream truck, soda jerks, and a baby ice cream cone served as the Grand Marshals!

This marks 's second year participating, and members look forward to becoming an enduring part of this wonderful community tradition. 🍦🚒

🌈 Members of the Assistance League® of Greater San Diego proudly marched in the San Diego Pride Parade on July 18!

The chapter's office and thrift shop sit in the heart of Hillcrest, the center of San Diego's LGBTQ+ community, so joining the parade was a meaningful way to celebrate their neighbors and show their commitment to serving everyone.

Thousands of spectators cheered the group on, and one even shared that he bought the jewelry he was wearing from their thrift shop! Moments like these remind members why they love this community.

Judy's Journey Continues! ✈️

Our National Executive Director, Judy Zulfiqar, is racking up the frequent flyer miles this year, and we love to see it! On a recent trip she visited Assistance League® of Greater Placer, where she got to spend time with members, visit the thrift shop, and see firsthand the incredible work happening in their community.

From coast to coast, Judy is on a mission to connect with every chapter of Assistance League, and each visit is a reminder of the impact of the chapters' work. Thank you to Assistance League of Greater Placer for giving Judy such a warm welcome! 💛

While the calendar says National Book Lovers Day was yesterday, our commitment to helping kids fall in love with reading isn't limited to just one day. Through Operation School Bell®, we help provide students with the school supplies and support they need to open a new book with confidence, any day of the year. 📖✨
