Clatsop Economic Development Resources (CEDR) has honored Assistance League® of the Columbia Pacific with the Community Supporter Award!

This recognition celebrates Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific's work serving nearly 1,000 students each year across every public school district in Clatsop County and the Naselle School District in Washington. Through Operation School Bell® and a wide range of youth programs, the chapter provides clothing, school support, scholarships, athletic gear, foster care duffel bags, and access to arts and cultural experiences to ensure that no child is left behind because of financial hardship.

Clatsop Small Business Development Center and CEDR also recognized the chapter's commitment to the region's future through scholarships awarded to local graduating seniors and Clatsop Community College students pursuing careers in trades, healthcare, maritime industries, and other essential professions. Over the past two years, the chapter has brought nearly 900 sixth-grade students to live performances at the Liberty Theater, creating experiences that build creativity, confidence, and connection.

All of this is made possible by more than 100 dedicated volunteers who deliver extraordinary impact with compassion, efficiency, and heart.

Thank you, CEDR, for this meaningful recognition, and to Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific, for the amazing work you do!

Assistance League® of Southwest Washington Launches Two New Initiatives 🏠🎒

Assistance League of Southwest Washington (ALSW) recently launched two new initiatives to support unhoused and unaccompanied teens in Vancouver. Clark County schools estimate nearly 3,000 students are experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, cars, motels, outdoors, or temporarily with other families. After hearing firsthand from Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) Family Resource Coordinators, ALSW recognized an urgent need and created Bags of Basics and Youth Essentials & Support.

Bags of Basics provides drawstring backpacks filled with hygiene items and snacks to offer comfort, dignity, and care during difficult times. Working with the VPS Family Engagement and Technical Assistance Coordinator, ALSW assembled an initial 26 bags for VPS students, with 26 more distributed since and additional supplies secured.

Youth Essentials & Support (YES), helps unaccompanied students lacking stable adult support due to homelessness, family conflict, abandonment, or other crises. Partnering with the Unaccompanied Youth Coordinator for Evergreen Public Schools, YES provides timely, individualized assistance so students can focus on learning instead of survival.

We are so proud of ALSW for turning community need into meaningful action, with creative and compassionate solutions that truly make a difference for vulnerable youth. ❤

Amy Johnson's path through Assistance League® reflects the kind of steady, committed leadership that shapes an organization for years to come. She began her journey as a member of the Assistance League of San Bernardino before continuing her service with the Assistance League of the Foothill Communities.

At the national level, Amy served on the Finance Committee from 2014 to 2017, then stepped into the role of Vice President of Chapter Finance from 2017 to 2019. During that time, she was a fixture at the National Treasurers Workshop, where she planned, coordinated, and presented content across three-day sessions in both 2018 and 2019. She also developed and presented sessions at National Conference Connections 2019, including "Demystifying Real Estate" and "Big and Bold Resale Shops," bringing practical financial insight directly to chapter leaders across the country.

As a member of the National Board of Directors, Amy brought what Board Chair Andy Goodman describes as "a sharp, insightful lens to our organization at a pivotal moment." Her comprehensive program analysis and thoughtful audit of organizational processes played a key role in guiding Assistance League's restructuring efforts.

Amy's contributions to the national organization are grounded in a distinguished professional career in finance. She holds an MBA in Finance from the University of San Diego and has served in roles spanning Financial Analyst, Controller, and Senior Finance Manager. She currently serves as Director of Fiscal Services for the El Monte City School District and the MERGE Joint Powers Authority.

We are deeply grateful for Amy's dedication, expertise, and years of service to Assistance League and the communities it serves.

As we near the end of the Assistance League fiscal year, let's take a moment to recognize what a great year it was. 🙌

From chapter to national leaders, and to all of our volunteers and members who showed up week after week — this year happened because of YOU. Assistance League chapters across the country are stronger, more vibrant, and more impactful because of your dedication.

As we celebrate the close of one chapter and the start of a new one, we want you to know that your service matters. We are so grateful for all you do for your chapter and community.

Thank you to our outgoing leaders and board members. You've set the bar high, and we can't wait to see what comes next! ✨

Over 100 bags of clothes and shoes. Three schools. And beautiful community collaboration. 🏫

Assistance League of Boise combined their Operation School Bell® site inventory with their Canyon County branch to deliver over 100 bags of clothes and shoes directly to three schools in high need. The schools were so happy to receive the donations, and the chapter was just as happy to get those clothes to children and families who needed them.

Here's what some families had to say:

"Getting these clothes made mornings easier. My child is more willing to get ready for school and hasn't been resisting going like before."

"My child has felt like they stood out in a negative way this school year. Having new clothes helped them feel more like everyone else and more comfortable around their peers."

"This took a lot of stress off our family. Thank you to everyone involved."

"Thank you very much for everything you gave my daughter. Everything was very good and beautiful. May God bless you all and the people who donated the things to her."

This is what community and collaboration looks like. Watch more at this video, courtesy of Idaho PTV Education: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1602947550943723
