Arts for Learning WNY Arts for Learning WNY (formerly Young Audiences of Western New York) Art forms include music, multi-media arts, theater, dance, and visual and literary arts.

Arts for Learning WNY'S mission is to inspire, expand learning, and strengthen our community through engagement with the arts. We offer assembly, workshop and long term residency programs with professional artists, committed to their craft, and using it as a tool for creative learning. Services are provided in the eight counties of Western New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming. For 60 years, Arts for Learning WNY has developed and delivered education programs in all artistic disciplines to more than 3 million children and families in Western New York. We present hundreds of individual programs, plus dozens of residencies, wherein our roster of Teaching Artists provide students, educators, and families with multi-disciplinary, multi-session education through the arts.

Through interactive story-theatre, the Wondermakers grant participants an opportunity to step into fairytales, fables, and mythology in a way that they've never experienced! This program is structured around audience participation, encourages energetic engagement, and is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

🪘Join Arts for Learning WNY Teaching Artist Ringo Brill for a World Drumming experience at the Cordelia A. Greene Library!

In this interactive and high-energy program, participants are introduced to historical and cultural topics from around the world while learning the basics of drumming. Using authentic instruments and building on traditional rhythms and patterns, Ringo engages with every participant and shows how drumming can connect us to people nearby and around the world.

🎨Yesterday, representatives of our team at Arts for Learning (including staff and Teaching Artists) attended The Spark Awards, presented by Arts Services Inc. - ASI!

This event, dedicated to recognizing those who contribute to making Western New York a hub for arts and culture, brought together artists, organizations, educators, advocates, and creative leaders from all around our community.

We were honored to be presented with this year’s Spark Award for Arts Integration! Executive Director Amelia Schrader accepted the award on behalf of our entire Arts for Learning community who makes this recognition possible.

In addition to this collective honor, we were incredibly proud to support Arts for Learning Teaching Artist Emma Brittain, who was presented with this year’s Rising Star award!

Thank you to our entire Arts for Learning community for your continued support and contributions to our continued success in spreading arts-integrated learning throughout Western New York!

📣We are excited to welcome Teaching Artist Stephanie McDonnell to the Arts for Learning WNY team! This fall Stephanie will serve as the ArtWorks Teaching Artist as our apprentices spend the semester learning about ceramics.

The Fall 2026 ArtWorks session begins on Monday, October 19th.

“I love the incredible opportunity that ArtWorks provides in creating a safe space to help young artists develop their skill sets, while offering ways to realistically support their artistic endeavors alongside workshops in those fields. I am excited to be a part of the artistic community in Western New York because I know there are many others out there also excited to partake in the arts, who may not know where or how to begin, and I am grateful to be able to share my knowledge and to give back to the community in that way. 📣Arts for Learning WNY 2025-2026 Impact Report

As we reflect on our 2025-2026 academic and fiscal year, we are inspired by the incredible impact that arts-integrated learning continues to have on young people throughout Western New York. Whether in classrooms and community spaces or at home, students are discovering new ways to learn, create, and grow through the arts.

Over the last year, our Teaching Artists partnered with educators and community partners to spread creativity and connection to more than 28,000 students and 2,000 community members across 90 total schools, libraries, and community sites in Western New York.

We delivered a total of 834 workshops, performances, and residencies, hired 34 ArtWorks Apprentices, and distributed 3,000 Arts Integration Kits in the community.

📣Get Your Hands in the Clay: New Community Workshops at South Park High School

This fall, Arts for Learning WNY will be partner with Northwest Buffalo Community Center and the Family Resource Center at South Park High School to present an incredible 6-week residency that will introduce participants to the medium of clay.

Learn about the science of pottery, develop hand-building techniques, and explore decorative applications to create your very own visual autobiography! Social-emotional and academic lessons will be woven throughout to support self-expression, community building, and academic application.
