We were excited to welcome nursing students from Alfred State College (SUNY College of Technology) to our Olean base for an inside look at life in flight medicine.
Led by Tina LeMaire, MSN, RN, Assistant Director of the Nursing Department, these future nurses toured our base and learned firsthand what it takes to become a flight nurse - combining critical care skills, quick decision-making, and teamwork in high-pressure environments.
Students had the opportunity to meet and learn from members of our flight crew, including Chief Flight Paramedic Eric Barkey, Flight Nurse (in training) Trisha Sebastian, and Flight Nurse Shadoe Fowler. Our crew shared their experiences, answered questions, and offered insight into this rewarding and challenging career path.
We love connecting with the next generation of healthcare professionals and giving them a glimpse into the lifesaving work we do every day. Thank you for visiting Mercy Flight!
