Today, we're shining a light on a group that often suffers in silence: middle-aged men in our community.
The Wright County Su***de Prevention Coalition, an initiative of Buffalo Strong, is focused on reducing su***de risk and strengthening mental well-being among men ages 40–65 in Buffalo and surrounding rural areas.
Between 2018 and 2023, Wright County experienced 110 su***de deaths — nearly 75% were men. Men working in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and farming face some of the highest risks.
Mental health is health.
Checking in with a friend, asking a coworker how they're really doing, or reaching out when you're struggling can save lives. Strength isn't about carrying everything on your own. Strength is knowing when to ask for support.
This Men's Mental Health Month, let's start the conversation, break the stigma, and remind the men in our lives:
You are not alone. You matter. There is hope.
