⭐Volunteer Highlight: Mike Labbe & Charlee ⭐
We’re proud to shine this week’s spotlight on Mike Labbe and his service dog, Charlee, dedicated members of the Maine Paws for Veterans family, and proud graduates of the Class of 2022.
After completing the program, Mike immediately chose to give back — and he hasn’t stopped since. For the past three years, he has completed our annual Train the Trainer winter course and now serves as an active Program Instructor, helping fellow Veterans build strong, life‑changing partnerships with their service dogs.
So far this year, Mike has already logged: • 16 hours supporting outreach events, including the Military Expo in Augusta, Pints for Paws at the Topsham Sea Dog, and the Rowe Ford Commercial Building Grand Opening • 27 hours of service dog training time • Countless moments spent supporting Veterans in the program, offering guidance, encouragement, and lived experience.
Last year alone, Mike contributed 75 hours of service dog training and 24 hours of outreach — a level of commitment that speaks for itself.
Mike also organizes the annual benefit ride for Maine Paws for Veterans through the American Legion Riders, American Legion Lisbon Post, helping raise awareness and support for our mission.
His dedication, leadership, and compassion strengthen our community every single day. Mike is a credit not only to himself, but to the entire Maine Paws for Veterans family.
