Earlier this month, Executive Director Lance Sabbe attended the Congress for the New Urbanism Conference ( ) in Northwest Arkansas, joining community leaders, planners, developers, and advocates from across the country to explore innovative approaches to housing, placemaking, transportation, and downtown revitalization.

The conference provided an opportunity to learn from successful projects in communities of all sizes and bring back ideas that can help strengthen Brunswick’s future. From workforce housing and walkability to public spaces and economic development, many of the conversations directly align with the ongoing work of Forward Brunswick and its mission to inspire community commitment and advance revitalization efforts throughout the city.

“Seeing communities invest intentionally in people-focused development was incredibly inspiring,” said Lance Sabbe. “There are so many ideas and strategies that can translate to Brunswick as we continue building momentum around housing, connectivity, and creating vibrant places for residents and visitors alike.”

A powerful moment for housing in Brunswick. 🏡

With a $4.7 million anonymous gift supporting local initiatives through the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, Reynolds Cottages has been awarded $1 million to help bring more attainable housing to our downtown community.

As shared in the Brunswick News article, this investment is about creating “long-term impact” and expanding access to quality, affordable housing options for more families right here in Glynn County.

As our Executive Director, Lance Sabbe, shared:
“A gift of this magnitude is a powerful vote of confidence in both the Reynolds Cottages vision and Brunswick’s future. The $1 million commitment serves as the lead gift in our $3 million campaign to retire construction debt for Phase II—helping ensure these homes remain attainable for working families while strengthening the long-term sustainability of our efforts.”

Our hearts are with our neighbors in Brantley County impacted by the recent fires. We’re especially thinking of our vendor, Hall’s Homestead and Garden, who won’t be with us this Saturday due to the conditions—we can’t wait to welcome them back soon.
