Last week, we celebrated a remarkable group of leaders who have invested in their growth, strengthened their connections, and stepped forward with a shared commitment to making a difference in our community.

A special thank you to Mayor John Cowen for serving as our keynote speaker and congratulations on being recognized as this year’s Distinguished Alumni honoree. 🏆👏 Your leadership and dedication continue to inspire future generations of community leaders.

Session 9: PUBLIC UTILITIES AND THE PORT

The final session has wrapped up and, despite the weather, proved to be just as advertised: an incredible behind the scenes journey through how Brownsville Public Utilities Board keeps our city running, followed by a star-studded presentation at the Port of Brownsville, TX with guest speakers from Rio Grande LNG, Bechtel Corporation, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection 🎉🎉🎉

Thank you to all presenters for sharing their expertise, insights, and behind-the-scenes perspectives with our class. Your support and commitment to developing future community leaders made this experience truly memorable!

Session 8: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The penultimate session. Our last stop before the grand finale, it’s considered by many to be “the best session of the year” for its diversity & scope of presenters, a true eye-opener even for the most experienced class members.

The agenda ranged from the elite team courting multi-billion dollar investments for our area, to a food factory with National impact hidden in the middle of our city, to movers and shakers helping small businesses on both sides of the border, to the agency who helps staff our workforce, along with a glimpse into signature industries within our port.

Session 7: LAW ENFORCEMENT

This session is always impressive because of how hands-on and real it gets: One moment you’re listening to a presentation, then you’re being escorted into jail, followed by learning about the many ways our community is kept safe directly by the brave officers and teams who support them.
