Our neighborhood is built by immigrants.

This June, in honor of Immigrant Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the community we serve every day along Liberty Avenue.

A few facts about our home:

• 41% of East New York residents are immigrants — naturalized citizens and newcomers alike
• 35% of all Brooklyn residents are foreign-born, more than 900,000 people
• The City Line / Ozone Park area is one of the fastest-growing Bangladeshi enclaves in NYC
• Over 200 languages are spoken across our borough, with dozens represented right here on Liberty Avenue

Our community is Bangladeshi, Guyanese, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Caribbean, West African, South Asian, and so much more. Every family has a story. Every journey matters.

At BACDYS, we’re proud to serve immigrant families with the resources, support, and respect they deserve.

Proud to serve. Proud to belong.

STORM DAMAGE? REPORT IT. 🌧️

Heavy rain and flooding hit several NYC communities on Wednesday, May 20. If your home, business, or property was damaged, NYC Emergency Management is asking residents to report it — when it’s safe to do so.

Your damage report helps the City assess the full impact of the 5/20 storm and may support recovery assistance for affected communities.

📋 Report storm damage: reportdamage.nyc.gov
🏙️ Request city services: nyc.gov/311 or call 311
🚨 Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies

🌐 Sign up for Notify NYC emergency alerts in your language — available in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, and Yiddish: https://on.nyc.gov/change-language

New federal rules are changing SNAP work requirements — and you could lose your benefits if you don’t act.
Starting this year, some adults must work, attend job training, or volunteer to keep their SNAP. ⚠️
You may be impacted if you are:
✅ Between ages 18–64
✅ Not living with a child under 14
✅ Not exempt for health or other reasons
If this applies to you, you may need to take action every month to keep your benefits. Don’t wait until your card stops working at the register. 🛒

Need help understanding the rules or what to do next? BACDYS is here for our community. DM us or stop by — we’ll help you navigate it.
