🏒🎀 PINK THE RINK IS THIS SATURDAY! 🎀🏒

💗 We do it for HER. 💗

This Saturday, KVHA is coming together for Pink the Rink to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer. Every donation, every volunteer, and every little act of kindness helps make a difference!

🎀 WHY WE DO IT FOR HER: ERICA HOWE

Erica Howe, a retired professional women’s hockey league player and active firefighter from Ontario, Canada, was just 32 years old when she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. She discovered a lump while brushing jelly donut crumbs off her shirt. Initially thinking she was too young for cancer, Erica sought medical attention after encouragement from her wife, friends, and teammates.

Now, Erica is sharing her story to raise awareness and help fund cancer research. Her story is a powerful reminder that breast cancer can affect young women, too. 💗

🎀 WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP THIS SATURDAY!

Even if your team isn’t directly participating, you can still make a difference! If you’re at the rink for practice or games, please consider giving us a hand.

💗🏒 WHY WE DO PINK THE RINK 🏒💗

Pink the Rink is about more than hockey. It’s about raising awareness, supporting those fighting cancer, honoring survivors, and reminding our community that no one has to fight alone.

This year, we want to shine a light on Dave “BamBam” Redl, a member of the regional hockey community whose breast cancer journey is helping break down barriers and raise awareness about male breast cancer.

After noticing a lump in late 2025, Dave underwent a lumpectomy and chemotherapy. He partnered with the Hockey for Hope campaign to help break the stigma surrounding male breast cancer and encourage men to check themselves.

💗 Breast cancer doesn’t affect women alone. Early detection matters for everyone. Dave’s story is a powerful reminder to know your body, check yourself, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right.

So, how can YOU help make Pink the Rink a success for KVHA?
