🚨 Detainees at Delaney Hall are putting their bodies on the line to demand basic human dignity. We cannot look away.
CATA strongly condemns the horrific and inhumane treatment of people detained at Delaney Hall in New Jersey, where reports describe unsanitary conditions, rotten food, medical neglect, and abuse toward detainees — including those who are medically vulnerable.
We also condemn the violent behavior of ICE agents toward families, allies, and protestors who have been standing in solidarity with detainees. The use of pepper spray and batons against people demanding justice is unacceptable and part of a broader pattern of enforcement agencies acting with impunity.
In this blog post, Meghan Hurley, CATA’s Policy and Advocacy Organizer, shares why we are calling for an immediate independent investigation, accountability for the officers involved, and urgent action from local and federal leaders to support detainees’ demands.
