Refuge for Women is a non-profit, faith-based organization that provides long-term residential care for women exiting s*x trafficking and s*xual exploitation.

This month, one of our Texas Gulf Coast residents celebrated her 19th birthday, marking the first time she had ever been celebrated on her birthday. Surrounded by a community that sees, values, and honors her, she experienced a day filled with joy and love. That same week, she also celebrated her one-year anniversary with Refuge for Women. These two milestones offered a beautiful reminder of how far she has come and the hope that continues to unfold as she moves forward in her healing journey.

While each area plays an essential role in recovery, we believe Jesus is the ultimate source of healing and transformation. Through compassionate care, professional support, and faith in Christ, survivors are empowered to heal, grow, and step into lasting freedom.

We are excited to introduce our 'Play with Purpose' initiative that combines a love for mahjong and a desire to see survivors of human trafficking thrive! We are empowering women through mahjong events and a brand new mahjong product line, The Grace Collection, designed by our board member and Louisville artist, Micki Thomas Art.

This collection's production was funded by donors looking to multiply their gift; thus, 100% of the sales benefits Refuge for Women.

One of the most heartbreaking realities of human trafficking is that it doesn't always begin with a stranger. Nearly **1 in 3 reported trafficking survivors** say they were first recruited by a family member. Exploitation often starts where trust should be safest, making prevention, awareness, and intervention more important than ever. Together, we can help create pathways to safety, healing, and hope.
