I am sorry that I don’t post much anymore. It has just been the thing that has to go because I am so busy teaching, mentoring, housing and doing grad school. But here are some highlights over the last month:
-I got to see their cozy new place, it looks just like them, warm and unique!
-I got to see their new apartment as newlyweds. Bible verses on the wall. Working hard to live a life for Jesus.
-She is graduating and survived 4 years of teenage existence living with emotions bigger than any teen should have to manage because of her trauma.
-She is graduating at 17, with a car, a license, a job and her whole life ahead of her.
!!! Please just pray the system will let her come home to ASAP Magnolia House where she belongs. !!!
-She survived an attempt on her own life. Thank God she is still here.
-She needs your prayers to see abuse clearly so she can take back her life for herself and her son. (We also need a trusted home to take her son while she finds some healing, if you can help, please reach out)
-She got her new place for her and her little man. It’s beautiful.
-He is still sober. We celebrate that.
-He is excited to be a dad. Making great choices for his little family as they prepare to welcome baby girl. The shower was beautiful and thrown by her god mom- that’s me!!!
-She is preparing to be a mom for the second time. And what a good one she is.
-She was able to talk to her bio mom for the first time in years and it was a life giving experience.
-He just graduated from a train the trainer marine corps leadership opportunity and his new relationship is blossoming.
-She has successfully finished college and is set to graduate soon.
-She is working her way through, one class at a time.
-He hasn’t had an explosive episode in months and continues to work hard in school.
-He is sitting down to have a hard conversation but he is prepared to do it in love and maturity.
-She got baptized. God is moving in her life!
-She is reading her Bible everyday and is excited about what God is doing in her life. Redeeming the losses she has experienced.
-He fights against his anxiety every single day to do better for himself.
-He made a list of the man he wants to be. He is working on it.
-He has a good heart and wants to leave that old life behind. I am in his corner.
-They are going to camp! It is going to transform them from the inside out! I can’t wait.
-She is about to have that GED and work on her trade. No longer living in that tent.
This is just some, not even all of what GIYF is working with our GIYF teens and alumni to accomplish. Ten years but thousands of little wins- moments of Fully Flourishing. And they are beautiful.
