Yesterday May 17th, the Brandon VFW partnered with a few other local organizations for the VFW Day Of Service

Our members spent time at three area local cemeteries and did cleanup/flags, and then members assisted a young Boy Scout with his Eagle Scout Project. This young man is working to photograph and geomap veteran gravesites to within a few meters. Currently, there are no photographs of the markers, and the address pinpoints to the main lot at most cemeteries. With this young man's project families and friends will be able to locate their veteran's gravesite with ease.

VFW Three Rivers Post #4726 and VFW Auxiliary Three Rivers Post 4726 are partnering with the Ed Polzine Fund to bring the HOMETOWN HEROES BANNER PROGRAM to Brandon. If you are a Veteran, or you have a Veteran you would like to honor please enter an application. We are asking that the Veteran have lived in Brandon and/or is associated with the Brandon Community in some way. This process was just initiated, so our timeline is a bit quick as we are hoping to have banners up for July 4th, and our 250th Anniversary of our country. The banners will be displayed through Veterans Day.

The cost for the banners will be $150 made payable to Ed Polzine Fund.

A good quality photo will be required that can be scanned in, along with the form, and the $150 at the same time. Our first deadline is June 1st (in hopes to have banners up in time for July 4th). Feel free to drop off forms or mail them to the VFW at 321 S. Main Ave in Brandon, or at the BV Brandon Valley Journal office at 1404 E Cedar St in Brandon.

If you wish to submit a digital photo please email [email protected] or [email protected]. Your registration form and payment will need to be received prior to June 1st deadline to ensure we get the entry submitted.

This is a great way to honor your Veteran.

The Brandon VFW and VFW Auxiliary Three Rivers Post 4726 would like to send a giant thank you to the community of Brandon for your support at our 60th Annual Loyalty Day Parade. This year was very successful. Not only did we have beautiful weather, but there were a ton a smiles to go around.

We had several dignitaries that attended this year. We had our VFW Department of South Dakota VFW Commander present and our VFW Auxiliary - Department of South Dakota President Sue Jones in attendance. President Jones even assisted with handing out bikes during our raffle.

Our Poppy Prince and Princess Ethan and Shayn were at Sunshine Foods Brandon on Saturday selling Buddy Poppies. These proceeds go to our Veterans Relief Fund that are earmarked specifically for local Veterans in need. Thank you to all who purchased poppies.

This is the second year we were asking for donations for the Brandon Area Food Pantry. We collected a TON of food from the parade entries and also for the bicycle raffle tickets. These items stay local and help families in need.

We then had 56 bikes and scooters donated. That is the most we have ever had. We wanted to take the time to give recognition to those individuals and Companies that made it possible.
