Baked Goods Donations
Happy Corner Church is asking for our help in providing baked goods for their Fall Bazaar benefiting Brethren Disaster Ministries on Saturday, November 14th.
Please have items at Oakland by 12:00 noon Thursday, November 12th. Please see sign-up sheet at the Hospitality Center if you can donate. For food safety concerns please list your ingredients. If you have any questions contact Alice Shade (937)830-1801. Thank you.

Congregational Forum
Oakland’s next congregational forum will be November 1st immediately following worship. We will have a carry-in meal with Oakland supplying soups. A short meeting will follow, including the presentation on the proposed 2027 budget and the called persons ballot. The proposed budget and reports from the leadership team and ministry team are available for review.

Socktober
The Outreach Ministry Team would like to thank all who donated socks during the Socktober project. 411 pairs of socks will be delivered to the following: Oakland Clothing Bank, Grace Resurrection Center Lunch participants, Greenville High School Comfort Closet, Good Samaritan Home, Community Action Partnership Homeless Shelter, Michael's Center, and Head Start Preschool.

THE CHOSEN: Season Three
Join us for the viewing of season three of THE CHOSEN. On November 18 at 9:30 am, we will see episode three: “Physician, Heal Yourself.” In this third episode of season three, Jesus returns to Nazareth, gives a provocative message in the hometown synagogue that is not well received. Lazarus is introduced as a childhood friend of Jesus. The human side of Jesus comes through in their relationship. We will gather to see a new episode of The Chosen monthly on the third Wednesday morning. Contact Barbara Menke for more information

BDM Opportunities
Bucket Assembly - Help assemble cleanup buckets for Church World Service (CWS) on Thurs., Nov. 19 at 6:30 PM. Come to Bullen Ultrasonics, 1301 Miller Williams Rd., Eaton. CWS distributes the buckets within the U.S. to those impacted by flooding.

Appreciation Dinner - You're invited to the annual BDM Appreciation Dinner! It will be held on Sat., Nov. 21 at 6:00 PM at Salem Church of the Brethren. There will be musical entertainment and pictures of our 2026 ministry. We will thank our volunteers and supporters, recognize new volunteers, and hear about the many ways to serve through BDM. Please RSVP by Nov. 5 to Helen Wolf, call/text 937-902-3475.

Camp
Please check the out the camp board at the Welcome Center for all the opportunities this fall and winter sponsored by the Camping and Retreat Ministries.
Registrations forms are available also. Please see Carrie Drees or Tonnya Helfrich with any questions.

Youth
• 5th - 8th grade Junior Youth are invited to stay after church TODAY for our monthly youth group meeting for kids in those grades. We meet right after church on the first Sunday of each month. Today, we will have lunch with everybody who is staying for the Congregational Forum. Then we will have some games and activities outside (weather permitting) as well as games inside and a short devotion. Please see Joel or Barbara with any questions!
• Our Youth, in grades 7-12, are invited to join us at Kay Scammahorn's house, next Sunday, November 8th, for a special outing. Please be there around 12:30, and we'll stay as long as she lets us! Call/text or email Joel with any questions. Hope to see you all there!
• Senior Youth in grades 9-12 will hold a Regular Meeting on November 15th, right after church. We will have some special guests, play games (hopefully including Dartball) have lunch, and a short devotion. More details to come. Contact Joel with any questions.

Youth
• Our youth grades 7-12 are at a lock-in with other youth from our district this morning, at West Charleston COB. There will be no Sunday School for that age group this morning, and no youth events here at Oakland today. The 7th-12th grade youth will next meet on Sunday, November 8th, when we will head to Kay Scammahorn's house after church. More information next week, or call Joel with any questions.
• Our new youth group for kids in grades 5-8, will meet again next Sunday, November 1st, right after church. Lunch will be served, and we will enjoy activities and games, along with a short devotion. Please spread the word, and let either Barbara or Joel know if you plan to be there, as well as if you have any questions.

On October 21 at 9:30 am, we will see episode two: “Two by Two.” In this second episode of season three, Jesus formally recognizes his chosen 12 disciples. In pairs, they begin to share the kingdom of God through healing and teaching. Thomas declares his desire to marry Ramah, a romance that surprises no one. Sewing Bee – On Sat., Oct. 24 there will be a Sewing Bee at 9:00 AM at Greenville Church of the Brethren. Volunteers will sew school bags for Church World Service (CWS) kids’ kits. Please bring your sewing machine and an extension cord. Nonsewers will prep items for CWS kits. Bring a sack lunch and come for a time of service and fellowship.
