☀️ Meet Jovan, our Senior Director of Development & Community Engagement!

His journey to VMA? According to Jovan: “VMA chose me!” 😂

He stepped into the role wondering if he had all the experience on paper—but quickly discovered that this was exactly where he was supposed to be. Today, one of his favorite parts of VMA is building relationships with our SUNs and being a positive role model our boys can see themselves in. 💛

Jovan loves the different personalities, cultures and walks of life represented throughout VMA—and finding ways to turn all of that into an incredible school experience for every SUN.

A few things you should know:
🍝 Favorite food: Fettuccine Alfredo w/ Chicken
🎬 Favorite hobby: Movies + spending time with his wife and kids
🛡️ Favorite quote: “I can do this all day.” — Captain America
😎 Fun fact: He may look 24…but he’s knocking on the door of 40! 😂

This year, Jovan is most excited to see our SUNs thrive and our VMA team come together like never before!

And much like Captain America…he’ll probably be running around VMA saying, “I can do this all day.” 😂💪

At VMA, we want our SUNs to know that learning isn’t just about getting the right answer—it’s about discovering what they’re capable of, taking pride in their growth, and believing that they can do hard things.

Meet Dr. V! ☀️

Here’s something you might not know about her:

🎓 She has 11 DEGREES.
Yes. ELEVEN. We counted twice. 😂

But for all the accomplishments behind her name, Dr. V says she’d much rather quietly help behind the scenes than be the center of attention.

Her heart for VMA is simple: Love them. Challenge them. Believe in them. Then watch them SHINE. 💛

And this year, that’s exactly what she’s most excited to do—watch our SUNs discover just how much they’re capable of.

What an incredible Back-to-School Night! 🎉📚

We’ve been preparing all week to welcome our students back, and tonight we finally got to see so many familiar faces, reconnect with returning students, and meet some of our newest VMA students and families!

Our students also received their brand-new uniforms thanks to Streetwear Inc., and we’re excited to introduce everyone to our amazing new staff very soon. To make the night even more special, several students walked away with FREE bikes, thanks to the generosity of onbikes! 🚲💙

We’re ready for fresh beginnings, big growth, and an unforgettable school year.

This is going to be a VMAmazing year! 💙❤️💛

We’re partnering with College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving to collect new or gently used school supplies and help our students begin the 2026 school year prepared, confident and ready to succeed! ✏️🎒

We’re collecting:
