Some of the most inspiring moments from happened because organizations believe in the power of adult education.

The Dollar General has helped create opportunities for adult learners, educators, and programs across the country through scholarships, mini grants, incentive grants, the Students as Leaders Summit, research initiatives, and COABE's longitudinal study.

Every learner celebrated. Every leadership opportunity. Every life changed. It all starts with people and organizations willing to invest in second chances and brighter futures.

This video highlights just a few of the unforgettable moments made possible through their support.

To the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and The Yellow Glasses Project, thank you for believing in adult learners and helping strengthen communities nationwide through education.

Help us thank them in the comments! ❤️

You don't need to be a social media expert to advocate for adult education.

In this COABE mini series, Virginia SAAEF Fellow and Adult Education Social Media Influencer Award recipient Dre Clements reminds us that COABE has tools, resources, graphics, and support available to help anyone advocate online.

And they're not just for fellows. They're for YOU.

🚨 Adult education funding is under threat again.

The House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee has released its FY 2027 funding proposal, and it once again proposes eliminating federal adult education funding.

But we've been here before.

Last year, adult education faced the same threat. Thanks to thousands of advocates who took action, Congress ultimately preserved funding.

Now it's time to do it again.

Adult education helps people gain the skills they need for better jobs, supports employers looking for qualified workers, strengthens local economies, and creates opportunities that change lives.

The Senate has not yet released its proposal, and Congress will continue negotiating funding levels in the months ahead. That means there is still time to make our voices heard.

📢 Take action today using COABE's quick 3-click advocacy tools. Links are in the comments.

Every email matters.
Every voice matters.
Every action matters.

Together, we protected adult education funding before. Together, we can do it again.

✍️ You do NOT need to be a researcher to publish in the COABE Journal.

Have you created a successful workforce partnership?
Developed an innovative program?
Helped learners earn credentials, gain skills, or advance their careers?

Then you may have exactly the kind of story our field needs to hear.

COABE is now accepting article submissions for the Fall 2026 COABE Journal, co-published with Jobs for the Future, on the theme:

📖 The Talent Pipeline: Adult Education's Role in Workforce Development

We're looking for adult educators, program staff, administrators, workforce partners, and practitioners to share:

✅ Successful strategies
✅ Lessons learned
✅ Innovative programs
✅ Promising practices
✅ Workforce development partnerships
✅ Research and reflections from the field

Some of the most valuable insights come from the people doing the work every day.

If you've ever thought, "I'm not a researcher" or "I don't have anything to publish," think again.

Your experience could help another program.
Your ideas could inspire innovation.
Your story could strengthen adult education nationwide.

📅 Submission deadline: June 22, 2026

🎓 What if your graduate degree could help strengthen the future of adult education?

Adult education changes millions of lives every year, yet it remains one of the most under-researched areas in education.

That's why COABE created the Graduate Student Network (GSN), a national community for master's students, doctoral scholars, researchers, and recent graduates who want to make a meaningful impact through research, scholarship, and leadership.

As a member, you'll have opportunities to:

🤝 Connect with mentors and experienced researchers
📚 Strengthen your research, writing, and publishing skills
🎓 Explore academic and research career pathways
🌎 Collaborate with graduate students and scholars from across the country
💡 Access exclusive resources, opportunities, and professional connections

Whether you're just beginning your graduate journey or already deep into your research, GSN can help you grow your network, expand your knowledge, and contribute to a stronger future for adult education.

The field needs more voices, more research, and more leaders.

Could yours be one of them?

💡 Looking for ways to expand opportunities for learners?

A wave of new federal funding opportunities is now available to support workforce readiness, career pathways, apprenticeships, community colleges, literacy initiatives, student support services, and postsecondary success.

These investments reflect a growing focus on helping learners gain the skills, credentials, and support they need to succeed in today's workforce while strengthening local communities and economies.

Whether your organization serves adult learners, job seekers, veterans, rural communities, or students transitioning to college and careers, there may be funding opportunities that align with your mission.

⏰ Many application deadlines are approaching throughout June.

What could your program accomplish with additional funding?

👇 Tell us what initiative you'd like to expand for your learners.

❤️ Adult education is stronger when we stand together.

This September, adult learners, educators, advocates, and workforce partners from across the country will come together in Washington, D.C. for COABE's Flood the Hill during Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.

Why does it matter?

Because lawmakers need to hear directly from the people whose lives have been changed by adult education.

The graduate who earned a diploma.
The parent who learned English.
The worker who gained new skills.
The educator who never gave up on a student.
The employer who found a qualified employee.

These stories matter.

When we show up together, we remind Congress that adult education is not just a program. It's opportunity, workforce development, economic growth, and stronger communities.

📅 September 16: Advocacy Training
📅 September 17: Congressional Meetings

Whether you're an adult learner, educator, administrator, advocate, or workforce partner, your voice belongs in this conversation.

Join us in Washington, D.C. and help ensure that adult education remains a priority for our nation.

📢 Tag someone who should join us and help spread the word.

🚨 Adult education funding is on the line.

On June 5, Congress will begin making decisions about Fiscal Year 2027 funding for adult education.

COABE's 3-clicks advocacy tool makes it easy to contact your Members of Congress in less than a minute and urge them to protect and increase adult education funding.

Every message matters. Every voice counts.
