VFW Auxiliary Post 10141 With nearly 4,000 Auxiliaries, there is likely one
in your area working to improve the lives of
America’s uncommon heroes.

Since 1914, the VFW Auxiliary has united Americans from all walks of life with a common purpose: to improve the lives of veterans, service members and their families, and our communities. The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest
veterans’ service organizations and our members
are the relatives of those who have served in a
location of foreign conflict. We have nearly half a
million members

nationwide who volunteer
millions of hours and fundraise millions of dollars
for charitable projects that benefit veterans,
military service personnel, and their families. Through our National Programs, we assist the
VFW pass or block legislation that impacts
veterans and their families, provide nearly a
million volunteer hours in the VA medical system,
conduct patriotic programs with thousands of
dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth.

Woo-hoo... guess who won the Tuesday night 50/50 Raffle? It was me! Thank you, Jeanne Worley for volunteering to run the Raffle. And thank-you to our VFW Post 10141 Bradenton, FL for allowing the Auxiliary to run the raffle. Finally, to our Post and Auxiliary members who participated, thank-you! I know I sound like a broken record, but we cannot do these events without YOUR support. 🇺🇲

September is a busy month at Palma Sola VFW Post 10141, with several opportunities to gather, volunteer, and support our community.

September 1-30: Su***de Awareness Prevention Month (SPAM)

September 1-30: Turning Points Sneaker Drive – Fill the Blue Barrel

September 5 - Labor Day Celebration at the Post
10 AM – 4 PM: Guest Bartenders - House Committee - Ian, Ramon, Dave, Charlie & Bill
12 PM: Hot dogs and Sloppy Joes will be served. We need side dishes, and the signup sheet is behind the bar.
1:30 – 5:30 PM: Tim Pitch will entertain us with favorites from the 70s to today.

September 19: Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Ceremony (POW/MIA). This is a Post collaboration with the Auxiliary hosting. Dress for the event is black tops and white bottoms. The Auxiliary is providing the entrée, Publix chicken, but we need side dishes. The signup sheet is behind the bar. Get your FREE event ticket from the bartender.
12 PM: Joint Ceremony - Auxiliary and Post

Lunch

September 26: Charity Golf Tournament. We need members to volunteer for the event, golfers to participate, and items for gift baskets. Please see the flyer at the Post and on our page. If you are interested in helping, the tournament committee meets on Mondays at 6:30 PM until further notice.

I’m not asking the Auxiliary to participate in everything, but your help makes a difference. Please do what you can. Remember, many hands make light work. This is YOUR Auxiliary and Post, so be part of what happens.

Palma Sola VFW Post 10141, September 1st marks the start of our Sneaker Drive for Turning Points: https://tpmanatee.org/.

Most Popular/Requested: Men's sizes 10 to 13 are the most urgently needed and distributed in homeless outreach.

Most Popular/Requested: Women's sizes 7.5 to 9.5 (with a strong concentration around 8 and 8.5) are the most common.

Most Popular/Requested: Ranging widely by age, youth sizes 11 to 3 kids (toddler through early elementary) and youth 4 to 6 (teens/tweens) are constantly requested for school-age children.

Let’s fill the blue barrel inside the front door at the Post. I look forward to seeing it filled with lightly used and new shoes for those less fortunate than us.

I want to thank Dave, Ian Brooks-Miller and Charlie who picked up the fifth breakfast at the VFW Post 10141 Bradenton, FL. My omelet was delicious.😋Thank you, JoAnn Kerr and Paula Kupensky for volunteering to serve us. You guys make a great team! I wanted to thank everyone who showed up and supported the Palma Sola 500 NASCAR Fundraiser. Thank you to our volunteers: Paula Kupensky on the dice, Jaye-Lynn Baublitz moving the cars, Jeanne Worley on the computer. Lastly, our MC who started us off with the National Athem - nice touch Charlie Mag. You made the event fun! Ian Brooks-Miller was the winner of the Beach Bag Raffle. Congratulations, Ian!
