Not only are honey bees the only insect that produce food for humans, they are also essential for pollinating many plants grown by gardeners and farmers. Check out these fun facts about bees and then learn how you can win up to $750 with your BEE Essay.

*A honey bee will only sting if threatened and can only sting once as it's stinger will fall out and it will die.
*About 8 lbs of honey is eaten to produce 1 lb of Beeswax.
*Bees perform a waggle dance to tell others in the hive where to find food.
*Honey bees pollinate over 100 varieties of crops in the United States
*To survive in the winter bee families huddle together and eat honey when most flowers have died.

The first 4-H club was started by Ohio school superintendent, A. B. Graham, in 1902. The first club was based on an at home corn project for boys and girls. Since then the mission of 4-H has developed and grown to encourage and develop youth. The 4-H motto, "To Make the Best Better" has been shown in not only the growth of it's members but also in 4-H itself. To learn more about the history of 4-H visit
