Last week, Tyson Ellison's coverage of a hotel concept on KOMU generated some discussion. Below is our vision for the NE corner of Hwy 87 and I-70. This site has been submitted for nomination for a Federal investment program (OZ 2.0) to assist us in attracting the investment.

Without criticizing our incumbent hotel operators, we've been told that we need more "double double" rooms - preferably with a brand that offers a warm breakfast to accommodate the soccer and baseball/softball teams. Many brands fit that description.

Here's a fun question: What restaurant do we envision?

What is the #1 "sit down" restaurant Cooper Countians visit when they aren't in Cooper County? The answer: Texas Roadhouse.

23.7 million people a year pass by the 87/I-70 interchange. One restaurant chain accounts for 7 of their top 10 "sit down" restaurant choices: Texas Roadhouse.

What is the most like Texas Roadhouse, but isn't Texas Roadhouse (since we are too close)? Colton's. Sedalia, Warrensburg, Jefferson City, Kirksville and others have Colton's, but none on the interstate in central Missouri. Just a thought.

The town hasn’t added a new hotel in 20 years, and said it is yet to find a brand willing to build in Boonville instead of nearby competing markets.
