There’s about a thousand and one different ways to manage how we graze, and most of them work just fine under different conditions. Following a set dogma on grazing practices means nothing though if they aren’t creating the results of a healthy thriving system. What I’ll be talking about is what results we should be looking for, how to look for them, and what their presence or absence means about our grazing practices as a whole.

Join us on July 21st at 1pm as we dive into the Key Performance Indicators with Caleb Howerton.
https://zoom.us/j/95635247354

Calebs’ passion is agriculture, and always has been. Not just one subset of it either, but as much of it as he can work with and learn from. He holds an Advanced High school diploma in Ag. Science, three A.A.S. Degrees in agriculture, a Permaculture Design Certification, and several other ag related certifications. His hands on experience over the last 18 years spans from competing at the state level in soils and forestry in FFA, to managing and working with herds and flocks of most normal livestock in the US across several farms and ranches, in sizes ranging from 1/10 an acre to over 1,200 acres, running multiple market gardens, orchards, and berry patches, and helping to start and run a National breed association. Caleb firmly believes that no matter how long we’ve been working and learning, there is always something new around the corner to discover in our fields.

MOA's board is made of farmers that are not only passionate about the work they do, but about sharing their wins and losses with those around them as they navigate farming alongside nature in a way that doesn't break the bank.

In this article from Farm Progress, board member, Kody Karr, is featured as he showcasses his row crop farm full of sheep, cover crops, and native grasses.

Kody Karr brings a new sheep breed and additional revenue streams to every acre, increasing farm profitability.
