We are honored to receive a Community Award from the Boise/Ada County Homeless Coalition.

As housing and living costs rise and wages stay flat, more Boiseans are walking through our doors. We've grown our community engagement to meet that need, including through The Great Gingerbread Build - Boise.

We accept this award on behalf of our guests and the community of supporters behind them, who consistently show up and show just how kind Boise is.

When we asked our guest Chris what Corpus Commons means to him, his answer was short: “Help. A safe place.”

Chris has worked for years, but rising rent and the cost of living have made stability hard to achieve.

He is not alone. Last year in Idaho, 78% of people experiencing homelessness were experiencing it for the first time, and 45% already had an income.

At Corpus, Chris eats lunch, talks with staff and volunteers, and is part of a community. Your generosity makes that support and that safe place possible for Chris and more than 200 Boiseans every day of the year.

“These are people, they’re not problems to be solved.

There are so many people in our community who are one crisis away from walking through Corpus’s door.”

This weather makes it feel like it's still summer!

Quick post to say THANK YOU to all the community members who showed up for our most vulnerable neighbors during this year's extreme heat.

We don't know water we'd do without you!

Join us for one of our two upcoming Lunch and Learns to discover more about local housing insecurity, how Corpus Commons is part of the solution, and ways YOU can get involved…including The Great Gingerbread Build - Boise!

Come solo or bring your whole team. This is for anyone -- local businesses, faith groups, service organizations, and caring neighbors alike -- who wants to support our neighbors experiencing housing insecurity.

Sessions start at noon, are 30 minutes, and are hosted via Zoom.

Sally recently made our hearts smile when she told us, "Corpus is my community."

For hundreds of our neighbors experiencing housing insecurity, Corpus is their community too. It's where they find belonging, feel safe, and access essentials they need like meals, showers, laundry, employment assistance, and so much more.

Sally says Operations Manager Jordan's consistency, especially on her hardest days, helped make room for real change.

Today, she's four months into her recovery and working toward housing at NewPath 2, with Corpus right there beside her.

None of this happens without our generous community of supporters. Thank you for showing up for Sally and our housing-insecure neighbors!

"The biggest misconception I see is that most people think that people experiencing homelessness do nothing. Most of the people I worked with had a job or were doing some kind of program to help build their lives.

It's easy to generalize one person into a group, and that's what society does to people without stable housing. People who are unhoused are trying, there are just more hurdles to jump through that most people have the privilege to not even think about."

That's Terrance, reflecting on nearly two years as a Shelter Lead at Corpus Commons, and on everything he learned along the way.

Terrance is moving into a new chapter: he'll be working as a therapist at Clarvida in their Intensive Outpatient Program and as a clinician in the Early Signs of Mental Illness Program.

"I loved working with the staff and volunteers so much. They truly are the rockstars, and I have learned so much from them. I am very thankful that our community has people with empathy who truly care to help."

Terrance leaves us with this:

"It's so important to meet people where they are at, and being able to build a connection with someone in this situation is so important. You never know what a little smile could do for someone. I will always cherish the time I worked at Corpus."

Thank you, Terrance, for every meal served, every name learned, every hard hurdle you helped a guest of Corpus overcome. We can't wait to see you back here soon, this time as a volunteer!
