Post 50 members, their spouses and a few friends turned out on a cold night recently to celebrate the post's annual Post-Holiday Holiday Party. Tammy Kelley catered a delicious meal, unofficial Post 50 deejay Lisa White kept us entertained with tunes, and Nicky Macias brought Singo cards for our post-meal enjoyment. Besides the excellent camaraderie, the best thing about the evening was everything was free. Make sure you join us next year!

An unusually cold and snowy day couldn't stop the members of American Legion Post 50 from celebrating Veterans Day in Blue Island. Many of our members attended a memorable ceremony put on by the students of St. Benedict/St. Walter School at St. Benedict Church. That was followed by Post 50's own ceremony at Memorial Park, which was moved indoors due to the cold. Thank you to all the kids and teachers at St. Benedict, and to all of you who braved the weather to celebrate with us at the park.

American Legion Post 50 will host Blue Island's annual Veterans' Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Memorial Park, 12800 S. Highland Ave. All veterans, as well as the public, are invited to attend.
